I have a difference between the shift boots on my two current C5s and I'm wondering if anyone can clarify for me.
One is all ruuber. The other is the same design but with a metal ring which mates to the tunnel where it covers the shifter hole.
The 99 was all rubber. The metal one came with my 03 Z06.
I consider the metal one to be superior and I'd like to find another one. I just don't know how. Which year cars, etc? I would reuse the current one for my MGW but it was gashed up to work with a B&M shifter which also came with that car so it is largely useless and I adapted it to my 99 and the stock shifter with, you know, Gopp to make it work.
But is that just another all rubber boot? I've got one which I'm using. I'm just trying to crowd share info so we can determine where the metal framed one came from. It sealed the tunnel perfectly, and as one who has fought to reduce tunnel heat from headers for years that was a notable find vs having to build up rubber or silicon to ensure the seal was firm on the all rubber variety.

You may be right. I just ordered one about a year ago and it had the metal frame. I will.see if I can find out what I ordered. It was for my 2004. When I get home I will take a will take a look.

Couldn't find where I got it from. Lifted the shifter boot and could see that the lower boot had a metal or plastic frame. It was black so I could not tell if it was metal or plastic, but it definitely had a frame that the rubber was molded to.
That is still good to know. Until now when I've asked people, even Marc at vette nuts once, no one else could confirm it existed. Cool. I might have to try ordering one then.
