I have an 04 coupe w bose sound and the original head unit. It sounds ookkaayyy but the base response is lacking. This 04 has the stock bose system. I noticed an amp in the left rear storage compartment under the hatch. There is a 10 disk cd changer in the center compartment. Thinking about a sub-woofer in the right compartment to deepen the base response. What suggestions have you for a guy who want good base response, not overbearing boomy response and has My baby. 04 corvette
a modest budget ?
I am open to ideas, just not replacing the whole system.
Your thoughts ( besides i am a deluaional cheapskate.)😄?
Thank you.
Dave.

That's not an amp. That's the controller for your active suspension.
Adding a sub to the stock setup can sound okay. I had one for awhile but found it underwhelming, too. I ended up tearing the whole thing out and running new wire front to back. The car comes apart fairly easily, though....

Well ok then. It is not an amp. That is too funny. While I work on cars a lot, I have never dealt with a Vette prior to this one. It definitely comes apart easily. I have put in seat heaters, a hands-free Bluetooth system for phone, USB charging ports, remote keyless starter, rearview mirror with an LCD display in it, bird view camera system, and sensors. All set up in a way that still looks pretty stock or is well disguised.
Could I put an amp in for the subwoofer and use the stock head. I actually like the look of the stock accessories so trying to keep that look. Just want a bit stronger bass response and using the built-in base control **** is not an answer. :-)
The only thing you need to do that's weird is find a source for switched 12V since the radio harness doesn't have one. I think the 2004 cars are different, but on my '02 there's an untapped wire down by the fuse box on the passenger footwell area.
Got any info on the birds eye view camera? I'd be interested in that!
Thanks. It looks like that goes into the radio harness. Thats easy. Does the sub woofer go right to that somehow ir does it need a separate illine from front to rear?
This is the birdview system i used. This is the rearview mirror that has the LCD in it. I got the mirror for less in amazon. I can now see all around. The only challenge was the side view mirrow installa as i had to take the mirror off and the door apart on both sides. The rest was easy. Very helpful.
Amp goes right to the PAC unit. It adds RCA outputs to your stock radio. Super easy setup and fits neatly-ish behind your radio and climate control. The box is a little bulky but it does fit back there.
Ok. So then I need that PAC AOEM-VET1, a sub-woofer, an amp, and an enclosure. Got it. Thanks for the help. Not sure how soon it will get done, but it is now a known for me and I am sure it will happen soon. Is there a modest-priced amp and sub you like?
As far as subs go, you can get a box that fits in the center storage compartment. They do okay. I wanted to be louder than that though, so my setup is a bit more extreme. I have one of their 3k amps driving two 8" subs in a ported box tuned to ~32hz that can be removed from the car at any time, and an 800w amp driving my front door setup (one 8" woofer and one 1" compression driver in each door).
Wow, that is quite a setup. Definitely not looking for something that wild. I am an old guy (well I used to think 57 was very old) so I am looking for more base accent and presence, not crazy bass. I think the center one will work well. I will look at what you sent over and then do some other " shopping" (my wife would be so proud) and see what I settle on. The key seems to be the PAC AOEM-VET1 module.
Well it works well. Sound much better I installed pac aoem vet1...easy. Then installed timpano tms500 amp, finally, harmon audio 12 sub in enclosure build for c5 center compartment in hatch. Settings as follows: pac aoem vet1 gains full all 4 channels; timpano tms gain to my liking so bass was there, then tuned 2 crossovers so bass is smooth but not overpowering and also used upper limit crossover so that some mid range and low trebble are present...mostly bass though.
Sounds like i wanted.
Then i noticed very muted sound out of the stock rear 6.75 inch speakers. So decided to replace them as those present were original to my 2004 coupe. Kicker 4 ohms. No sound, i think, when fade to rear on the oem head unit.
I'll have to give it a listen again to be sure. Purchaed wiring adapter to connect new speakers without splicing. Easy. Is it common for c5 to have muddy sound on rear channels? It was that prior to my new setup and now seems like nothing. Any thoughts or advice appreciated.

Yeah, I was never impressed with the rear sound from the stock unit (unamplified). That's why I deleted them entirely and invested more in the front stage.
Glad you like the little Timpano amp. They are impressive little machines!
I have the Bose system and think it sounds great, and I've had plenty of experience with car audio, having run 2000W systems back in the day.
What is your audio source? Are you playing CDs? Radio? Using an FM transmitter doohickey? Have you played with the EQ?
It's such a small cabin to fill I think you could be happy with an all in one unit if you want more bass without being a license plate rattle pro.
Thanks. Audio source is either FM signal from my stock head unit or from my android via the Transit Blu system i i stalled for bluetooth and habds free features. Its the only device that give good sound and mic for phone calls.
Im only trying to understand thw rear speaker output to set correct expectations.
I have the sould i want between the front bose and the sub i installed. The base is set to be an augmentation not boomy.
I will upgrade the front twiddlers tomorrow for better high response. After that i suspect I'm gonna be satisfied
