Hello everyone. I recently purchased my very first Corvette for my 50th birthday. It’s an 04 convertible, and I put a Seal Skin cover on it for the first time a couple of nights ago due to some heavy rain/storms. Today I noticed a small splotch of paint that had faded on the hood, now it’s all over the car. Could this be from the car cover?? Anyone else ever had this type of issue? I use a Lucas Oil quick wax spray to clean between washes and it’s never caused any issues. The cover is the only variable out of my normal routine. Can this be corrected or am I looking at a complete paint job? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you can't get the spots off the car using regular cleaning products, you may have to seek assistance from a good detailer. Might want to post in the Car Care section for some more advice.
I know this might sound stupid, but before you try any repairs take the wet cover off and let the car stay in a dry place for a couple of days and see if this helps.
Kinda hard to see but I see it and that is definitely clear but I'd say first layer or so. You be wasting you time and money trying to wax or compound it by hand. I'd get a real DA unit and some compound like meguiar's
or an all in 1 compound from 3D with a cutting pad.
Harbor freight has a DA system that's good to start with and I been using one for 3 years now.
Thank you for the advice. I will try the DA and see what happens. I still can't help but think the cover lifted the color, but don't understand why it would have. I'm going to contact Seal Skin and see what they have to say.

I wonder if that cover has a stain underneath it or if it smells like any oil
I use Lucas quick spray, works good. Good detailer and color correction. Don’t be too quick for a paint Job. Do as other recommended first. Good luck. Have cover but never used it. Vette kept outside.

Yes I've been very happy with the Lucas spray. I've used it almost daily since owning the car, so I'm confident that isn't the cause. The cover is the only variable. Painting will be my absolute last resort.
Personally I would be shocked if using the cover did something like this unless there was some chemical that was in the cover from the factory but I would think that if it was something harsh enough to do that to your paint, you probably would've smelled it when you opened the box or whatever it came in. I would definitely turn the cover inside out and try to match up the areas to see for sure. Wash the car first and see if it comes off. Hopefully its not the clear and maybe there was some sort of reaction to something that the PO used on the car (wax, sealer, ceramic).
If that doesn't work then it's time to break out the DA like others have said.

Did you leave the cover on in the rain? Is it a waterproof cover? Not water resistant but waterproof. There is a big difference. If that cover is not waterproof and was left on the car after both were wet, that could haze the paint. I went to the seal skin site. Their top of the line cover says it waterproof the other is not.
