Hello, it's come that time again where I am needing new tires from tread wear and age. I am currently have old Michelin pilot sport a/s 3+ in sizes they no longer make for that tire and are coming down with a case of missing tread. (don't asky why 😁 The car is bone stock with original wheels /ride height/ suspension ect. And I'm currently trying to decide if I want to get from a choice of:
Nitto NT01- 255 40 17 / 305 35 18Falken Azenis RT615k+ - 255 40 17 / 275 35 18
Michelin Pilot sport 4s - 265 40 17 / 286 35 18
Yokohama Advan A052
This is not my only car so I don't have to daily/ drive in the rain if need be but I don't want to be caught with my pants down if there was a sudden shower storm, I'm not super worried about cost but am mindful as the OEM Goodyear's are available but as of checking last night are available to me where I live at $1800 a set which I why I am going to go aftermarket. So I'm asking are those good choices? What would you pick? Are there any better suggestions, and what do you currently have/ have had that you liked?
Hands down the Michelin brand, I have them on my 02 and 91 Talon TsiAWD. Best tire I've owned. I have the Nitto brand on my red 99 and I don't like them.

What don't you like about nitto? I had them way back in high school and liked them so was considering the next gen 555's
Was looking at the new Michelin Pilot All Season 4 on another car in parking lot - I’m sure it has good all around performance but I just hate the non aggressive looking tread design - enough to not buy them. Thinking more about the BF Comp A/S +🧐 Plus - I hate the stupid outer tread “dots” which are clearly visible in wheelwell.🙄
If you are willing to spend some cash, then there's truly only one choice and that's the: TOYO Proxxes R888R s. It's not even close. Now, mind you, these are very soft tires and are made for EXTREME performance. So, if you truly don't drive your car much, but want the ultimate grip and cornering capability of a "non-stock" C5, go for it.
Please note: my car is seriously built for track days, drag racing, etc. It's totally streetable with 600 RWHP when on the bottle, 450RWHP naturally aspirated. The suspension is set up for the track with Delron bushings, bilsteins, Eibach bars, etc.
Good luck, but you'll grin from ear to ear if you "spring" for these tires.

I had just remembered about r888's after posting and was thinking the same thing however with those tires much like the nt01 and a052, I have yet to go to my first track day so it almost seems silly but that's the whole point lol. I did buy a z06 so maybe there's no question. Have you had other "semi slick" tires in the past how do they compare to the r888r's?

I have those on my c4 they are okay, still seem like a all season to me, however they are directional tires and every morning for me it feels like they need to warm up before it feels like they are balanced 🤷♂️
Unless you’re tracking the car, look at the Continental Extreme Contact DWS 03 plus tires, it’s a quiet, grippy and great riding all season tire and a lot cheaper than performance summer tires and they last a hell of a lot longer. I just put a set on my 2003 ZO 6 at Discount Tire for $970. I’ve had them on two C6’s, and a C7.

No comparison. Before I installed them, I'd run Hoosier and Nitto drag radials at the dragstrip and these are even "stickier" then they are. Check out Youtube and watch an excellent comparison between the R888R's and Mickey Thompson Drag Radials on a heavily massaged Hellcat. The r's blow the MT's away.
Just say'n.......
I disagree. Those stock Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 worked very well and they Worked pretty good in pouring rain.
D3 FTW!
I like the GSD3's as well. My first tire swap on my 99 coupe was from the run craps to the GSD3's back in 2003. It was a great decision. The GSD3 is an all around good tire for a 428whp daily driver that occasionally sees rain.
I've also run Nitto NT555s and found them to be an all around good tire. Now I run NT555R2's in the back and 555G2's up front. The car seems to like this new combo and grip is great with street driving over 600 whp. Haven't tracked these news tires yet though.
Are you running base Corvette wheels or Z06 wheels? I’m assuming based off the sizes mentioned that you were looking at Z06 wheels.
I have Z06 wheels on my Corvette coupe and currently have Toyo Proxies T1 tires in the Z06 tire sizes (265/40R17 front and 295/35R18). I am very impressed with them: they have a good grip and feel very predictable. I’ve done one track day and 3 summers of street driving on them.

I am also running Z wheels with T1 Sports. Sucks they've been out of production for a while now.
If I had to buy tires tomorrow I would pony up the money for Continental extreme contact fronts and drag radials in the back.
Michelin makes some of the best tires in the world but I refuse to pay the Michelin tax lol.
Michelin tax or what have you, I buy 30,000 mile Michelin's for my trucks, average more than 50,000 miles on them. I buy 40,000 mile tire for my Vette and get 50,000 on them, all the while driving with one of the smoothest, safest, great rain tire on the market !!!! I wouldn't even consider any other tire for my trucks anyway !!

Yep I'm on original bone stock z06 wheels (I have a 04z) so that will be a good one to look at!

Seems like 4s might be the smartest choice but man do I want to go crazy and get track tires lol. However my interest is more circuit track not drag strip track

Look into the Continental Extreme Contacts all the way around. 295 35 18 rears and 255 40 17 fronts. You won't be disappointed.
Otherwise it's Toyo RRR8rs if you want a street legal track tire. I've heard they're noisy as hell on the street though.
