I wondered why the ash tray cover, ash tray and cup holder in my C5 were not installed after my Pioneer stereo was installed. I guess I'm a little slow. Something had to give to put the over sized head in the dash. Of course I discover this after removing the cover. My next thought was to cut the ashtray cover to fit. Oh yeah, different texture. So I'm thinking of making a cover out of wood. If I don't like it, I can use it as a mold and cast a plastic piece. Thanks for listening to my vent.

Sounds like you have the Metra bezel kit. Some like it (including myself) and some don't. Vettenuts has a bezel which will retain the factory look, and texture. I like it as well but the price point and availability made me choose the Metra.
