Default 2002 to 2013 corvette

Hi
I own a 2002 but have been looking at a 2013 grand sport 60th Anniversary. Would this be a good upgrade. I do love my c5 What would be the my best thing for me to do and why.
Thanks

Yes, it would be a good upgrade. As to whether you should or not, there are a lot of variables. What is the price of the C6? Miles, trim level, condition, etc.?

What is the condition of your C5?

What is your personal financial situation? Can you easily afford the C6?

The C6 will be faster and more comfortable and of course, a few years newer. It's a decision only you can make.

You want people to talk you into buying a car and give reasons why.

I dearly loved my first vette, a 2004 i bought off of the showroom floor back in may of 04. Drove the car for 58k miles and enjoyed every bit of it. However i test drove a C6 on a whim and the LS3 power was quite seductive! So i ended up trading my C5 in for a C6 coupe in may 2009. The LS3 power aside, my particular C6 had the worst ride quality of any car i have ever ridden in, it was so harsh i didn't enjoy it nearly as much as my C5. Also the roof sounded like popcorn in a microwave constantly no matter how much i lubricated it. The interior was sort of an upgrade over the C5, but not much. I only put about 25k miles on the C6 before I traded it in for a C7 in nov 2014.

I love the C7, even if the power upgrade isn't that much over the C6, the car was absolutely better in every possible way. The looks are still very impressive, the interior is light years over the previous generation, and the ride is so much better. I still have only put about 26k miles on my C7 but part of that is i have been working from home for the past 20 months but even if that was not the case i would likely only have about 30k on it. But i love EVERY single mile, which i could hardly say that about the C6.

So when i started thinking about what to buy for my next car, i knew i wanted another vette but there was no way in hell i was getting rid of the C7. One thing that kept coming back to me was that i wished i would have kept my C5, skipped the C6, and then bought a C7 to go along with the C5. So last month i bough a low mileage 2004 C5 once again. While the C6 is still a great car, my advice (if possible) would be to keep the C5 and buy a C7 if you are able to get a second one. I regretted trading my C5 almost immediately after i did it.

The C5 and the C7 look great together out in the garage. I would have considered a C8 but after seeing it in person, i prefer the classic beauty of the C5, those gorgeous curves and big booty, oval taillights. The C7 has both curves and sharp angles, its kind of a mix, love that combination. The C8 is also very expensive and im not in the mood for that right now.

Sorry for the long meandering post. Do what you want to do, opinions are nice and everyone has their two cents. I give you mine because of my own personal experience and if i had to do it again i would have done one part of it differently. Part of life is taking chances and you only know if it was good or bad after you have done it, i suppose. Do what you want and what makes best sense for you...there is only one way to know. Best of luck

Hi
I just want peoples thoughts about both 2002 and 2013 grand sport or c5 and c6. I love my corvette but I would down the road like to get a newer one before I retire which is in a few year's. I started with 1984 and now I have a 2002. The one I'm looking at has about 37000 km on it and its 60th anniversary.

The plastics on the interior of the c6 have slightly better fitment and will creak a bit less over long term.

The LS3 will give noticeably better performance even if left stock and has amazing mod potential as the cylinder heads flow much more both stock and ported.

A lot of the electronics are currently cheaper than a c5 (steering position sensors, etc).

One big downside to the C6 is the headlight housings tend to get hazy if left in the sun longterm and they aren’t cheap. Plus the cars have a noticeable price spread from a comparable C5.

It’s not worth it to me unless it was a C6z or ZR1 otherwise your ‘02 is a good year and a great ride.

There is an upside to this, though...

The C6 cars have some incredible looking replacement headlight options which make the C6 look much like a c7 or c8 up front

I wish we could get some of that kind of aftermarket love

I wouldn't consider the swap for anything less than a C6 Z06. If you really want a newer car, I'd get a C7. That's just me. I actually decided to keep and mod my C5 rather than upgrade to a C7. I don't regret that decision. It's up to you though. The C5 is my favorite generation other than the C8.
