Just had my front driver side front blinker bulb replaced this morning, OUCH. Took my mechanic 15 minutes from start to finish. Put on drive on lift, turned wheel to right and unscrewed panel in front of wheel, replaced bulb, secured panel and done. Bulb $4.53. Total cost, $96. $100. With tip. 🤦♂️. No could not have done it myself, health issues. Did check out and added air to tires, no charge, 😂👍

So this is what you are going to do every time a turn signal bulb burns out? If one light burns out then both should be changed at the same time just like headlights because the other one is on the way out... OUCH...I change mine thru the front vent in 5 mins...$96 ?...you must have a lot of $ to burn
My mechanic charged $20 (5 minutes) by going through the headlight opening after removing the cover. When it went out again, I did it through the headlight but it took me about 30 minutes. The next time, back to the mechanic.
Find some local car/Corvette groups on FB or something - I bet someone local would be happy to help out for some basic maintenance. I know I'd have no problem helping a fellow Vette enthusiast out if it meant him/her saving some $$.
Sorry that your health issues are keeping you from doing it yourself. As you know, this is a SIMPLE job. If I were you, I would find a different mechanic. This is certainly something that I would normally do myself (especially since I replaced and rewired the entire housing myself). However, several years ago I had the car in for a state inspection. One of the front side markers had gone out without my having noticed. They charged me a whole $15 to replace it. If it had been expensive, I'd have done it myself, and brought the car back for reinspection. However, for $15, it was just easier to have them do it. Always ask how much it will cost before you okay a repair job. My guess is the particular shop you went to charges by the whole hour, so they charge a minimum of 1 hour's labor. Sorry this happened to you.
Not going to happen again for sure. Will find other means. NO I don’t have $$$$$$ to burn. Had no idea of cost. Thought it would be 20 at most. Looking for new mechanic.
If you want to drive a little south I’d be happy to help you out from general maintenance and from basic to advanced diagnostics…be happy to check the starting and charging system, relative compression (don’t have to remove any plugs and don’t even have to open the hood !!), cats, fuel pump, and some of the others sensors in the car…basically a overall look at the car !!
Be sure to check your blinker fluid. It may be due for a change.
I screwed up big time. Forgot to check blinker fluid, burned bulb out. Need to check gas cover lid fluid also, how stupid of me. I did lube the tire valve caps however. Thanks for the remind guy. 🏆🤙😎

thank you so very much. Might take you up when needed. 👍🏆
At Walmart: Good morning I need a RF turn signal bulb in my C5. Tech: It’ll be 2 hrs before I can look at it. I say ok at 0745. He gets info from car & sees USAF plate & thx me for service. Tech: I’ll get you right in. 10 min later while wondering in store he calls my cell. Tech: I took your word in good faith that you said you’d been here before. Me: 4 Never Start Marine Batteries, 1 turn signal bulb installed in Corvette, 1 Battery in Corvette. Tech: I didn’t show you in system. Told him ph number. Nope. We don’t have the pucks to put on lift. I said Really & Unreal! Tech: WHAT? I said forget it took my keys and left. (It gets better)
I’m heading to Chev dealer when I saw new popular Gator automotive shop. Pull in & yes sir we’ll take care of you. Guy puts it on rack 5 min later hands me side marker bulb. Lowers car & says you’re good to go. Told him wrong bulb still no signal. Up on rack then installs correct bulb … I’m not done … pulls car out front & says there ya go. I turn on lights & the side marker bulb he installed isn’t working. Ok gang by this time I lost it. ME: WTF don’t you guys check your work? Up / Down with rack. Side marker bulb wire at bottom that goes into socket was almost at 45 deg. Installed new bulb. All is good. I picked a helluva time to quit drinkin.
NOTE: The mgr told me NO CHARGE the 1st bulb change EVEN THOUGH IT WAS WRONG BULB. I handed him a $20 & said give this to the tech. He assured me he would. Still no charge for second CORRECT bulb and the re-re-placement of the 3rd bulb that was the side marker.
another common thing is the bulb is hot, and overtime it melts the light housing. allowing water to get in, which blows the bulbs.
LED is really the way to go for the DRL/turn signals
I've found removing the headlight shroud and working through the top is the easiest. I can just barely fit my arm through the brake duct opening but can't get enough leverage to twist it off. $100 labor for that is outrageous. The Corvette tax is real.
