Curvature was not the problem. The problem is with those damn bumps on the glass. What should be done is to NOT put the tint over them but paint the glass, instead. Sounds funny but I have been told it works very well.

As the rest have stated, the curvature of the glass is tough enough, but the hardest item to overcome is the bumps on the glass. I had a good shop that has been in the business for many years put a good 3M tint on mine and it has been fine. It took over two hours for their installer to put it on. I have had it on now for just under a year and it still looks great. :chevy
I've had 2 cars done by a good tinting shop with no problems. There is a slight "pimpleing" of the tint over the bumps at the top of the window, but if they take their time and work on it a little, it is very minimized. No one but me noticed it, and I don't even notice it anymore.

:iagree: I just don't look at that part anymore, but I would paint then tint.
Tint shops will try to charge you extra for the curvature but it's the bumps that are really the problem. Just put on LUmar tint but they messed up on the bumps -looks liike it's not sticking-so I don't look anymore. Big problem I have had (4 times replaced) is the driver's window tinting keeps ripping at the top. Seems that they can't align my window correctly.

no problems here the guy i went to had a cad program precut the windows took less than an hour got 4% all the way around(i know it is 4% because i got a ticket and that was the reading) anyways limo all the way around 8months old and looks awesome on my black 02 z06....happy new year to all
A friend of mine is a pro-tinter and he just heats the tint up with a heat gun and gets it to stick pretty well over the "solar dots" that GM uses. He has done my cars for years and they have all looked awesome. I have 21% all around and it is so good it looks factory.
My tinter (Atlanta) has been doing Vettes for 15 years. He got the curvature by "molding" it on the outside of the window.
After applying it to the rear window he used a heat gun, took a lot of time over the bumps, but when he finished it was great and has actually gotten better. He is an artist, filed the edges of the tint on the side windows to give a perfect edge.
For anyone in Atlanta, I suggest they contact Craig's Auto Trim. He does super work on all models, including the coupe rear which he can do with one piece, so no seams, looks great. I will get all the contact info if anyone's interested. :chevy :flag :chevy :flag :chevy :flag
I used lumar tint. The bumps are the problem. My tinter lightly sanded the bumps and the tint stuck fine. No Problems.

:iagree:
The key is lightly sanding the dots. Had this done one my last three cars, and I have never had a problem with bubbles . . . Any good, experienced tinter should know this. There are tons of cars out there that have these same type of dots . . .

:iagree: Works very well, and from the outside it just looks like the best laid tint job you have ever seen. The dots are perfect. :yesnod:
You can actually steel wool off the dimples very carefully, as I did. However there is no problem tinting over the dimples, if you do(or have done) a professional tint job.
My link to my 2001 Z06 has a picture from the back. I have the darkest tint allowed, whatever that is. It also eliminates the need to use the electrochromatic mirros, 99% of the time.
A FRC window in one piece? Thats impressive? LOL Id say doing the SS Camaro or a Firebird rear window or C5 coupe in one piece is impressive.
The guy who put the limo (5% the only way to go for southern summers) tint on the SS used a sharp razor blade and shaved the dots down and it worked allright...
