Ever since I posted my car mods recently, all the haters came out and questioned what I had done….namely, the calipers. So here’s the calipers since I got about a dozen messages about these.
I bought z06 brand new calipers and had them chemical stripped and coated gloss black. I think the following sentence will get my point across without getting this post taken down: “
Go to your local coater. Don’t go to people who advertise on Corvette sites.
Not you again. 😂 Is there anything about the calipers I can help you with? Otherwise, you’re trolling.
Nope just saying that they look great. Wheels look like new.
I am on this Forum for nearly 20 years nearly 20,000 posts. Hardly a troll.
I was also complimentary toward your C5 in a past thread.
What was to hate before? were they pink or something?
I have no idea what you are talking about otherwise.
The black looks nice and perfectly done.
I don't normally like flashy stuff but since every single thing on my car is black including the wheels I think I would do the race car red thing if I do mine.
They look great to me. I did the same with a local powder coater and mine came back perfect.
Yours look great with the wheels.
My car is Anniversary Red. I've been to busy to get them installed but every thing is ready when I get some free time.

Poster Number 2 is getting harassing with everything I do. I think he’s upset I know more
about C5’s. 😂

Your calipers look great! You mention that you started by buying a brand new set of Z06 calipers. The only difference between base C5 calipers and C5 Z06 calipers is that the Z06 calipers are powder coated in red. Since you were going to have them coated black, you might have saved a few bucks buying the base calipers. For the record, I'm not trolling you. I just thought I'd pass on some knowledge (which I think is one of the main points of this forum).

Pretty sure he was responding to post #5. He wasn't talking about your calipers.
You calipers look great! I don't know how anyone could say otherwise, and I'm not seeing that they have.
I think there must be disconnect perceived between you and Mike98SilVert. He has been here a long time and I have never seen him say anything offensive or negative to any member. Quite to the contrary as a matter of fact.
We are all here because of our shared love, passion, and/or interest in these cars. Even if we sometimes have different tastes, we still all have a commonality with each other.

Those look amazing. How much can inexpect to pay for that? I have a 2000 FRC. Red or black not sure which i would choose.
for powder coating alone, I paid $300 for all 4 including brackets. Gloss black and then gloss clear. I found a few places that were cheaper but they were father from my house. I just went for the convenience.

Thanks for the info. I am aware of that. However, base calipers have been discontinued and therefore unable to be purchased from GM and other secondary sellers for quite some time. The only option for me at the time I wanted to do this project was to purchase z06 calipers (I do not want to purchase used calipers). I purchased all four for $415 shipped. Unfortunately, now even zo6 calipers are completely discontinued. (You may be able to find a rear here or there.) that was essentially a close out price from GM for NOS and therefore I doubt I could have saved much more money even if the base calipers were still available. Glad I was able to pass along some info to you!!! I was also able to sell my old calipers to a nice young man with a C10 project for $400. So the whole thing was almost a wash.
