funny part of the sad story is, I was the first one to run down to see him,
I stayed with him until forest service fire paramedics arrived,
to check his metal trauma level they were asking him questions.
Such as
where are you ?
what day it is.
one of the questions was who is the president.
how could someone forget about sleepy joe 🤦♂️
I had the same questions years ago after a motorcycle wreck...
I did not know a single answer..
Good for y'all to stay and help. Some people would be affraid by what they may find in the wreckage.
More people would also be afraid (rightly so, sadly...) of being pulled into a lawsuit as the Mini pilot and his lawyer look for ways to place blame and collect $.
Just curious, but seriously, aren't there ever any cops on those roads?
the canyon road itself is over 60 miles long with 3 different canyon roads connecting to it.and making it even longer.
it’s practically impossible to check every corner.
one of highway patrol officers I spoke to has C6 ZR1
he also takes the vette there on weekends.
no sports car goes to angeles forest highway and highway 2.
to drive slow.
highway is always full of sports cars even 2 am,
I have seen from 16 to 80 year olds enjoying there sports cars, none of them go slow.
I dont care how well you know your car. Hit a bit of gravel, tire failure just about anything can take out the best car/driver.
Gravel, oil, coolant, tire failure....chit happens. Had to put pizza cutters on the front of my current toy so I didnt do the same exact thing. Too many close calls.

I ran the canyons about 2mo ago when I shot a video in LA. I ran with a couple of very modified cars (built M3 with sequential gearbox, ZL1 1LE, caged Porsches, etc) and I will say, some of those guys go HARD for the canyons...I mean, real hard. That day, the helicopter came out because someone went over.
My Z06 is pretty fast in that environment...I have more chassis than power due to braking/suspension/tire mods, with just bolt on LS6 power and just the speeds and lateral G's I can hit is a LOT up there, for a road with big consequences. I know the car very well, know it's balance, but Angeles Crest has some real mid turn undulations and frequencies that make grip challenging. You need very good dampers and some newer cars, with modern mag dampers/traction management systems, that react to the surface have a big advantage there. If you car isn't set up for that canyon specifically, it can definitely send you over.
Biggest thing I ran into up there was getting ice mode'd by the abs. Some slight cracks and undulations sent the abs into ice mode but I was able to manage the corner as it happened late in the braking event but was a slight clincher. Some roads up there are more tore up than others...that was Big Tajunga and its not the best.
I love running those roads, but the issue is...just that moment a car wants to run and you get lured into it...lol...need a lot of self discipline...and that's not my strong side when it comes to cars...
