I wonder if anyone has tried black shoe polish? IDK if this would work, or not. If you try it, be damn sure you get all of it off, or your shirt and pants will!!!!
Anyway, thank you all for your input. This is what makes this the world's best forum, IMHO
The facebook login wouldnt work so i had to create a real corvetteforum account Justin Raney with the red c5 99 that had torque tube issues.
Heres mine your saying black shoe polish would clean up the gray or does shoe polish add a black coat over it? You dont know of any leather/vinyl black paste that could be blended over the grey area of the bolster it would add support as it would be layered up material. Heres what i got. You said yours has a 3" tear in that spot and what will eventually happen to mine?

Well, I can't say for sure yours will tear, but it's mighty common. I've seen nearly as many with torn as not. Not at car shows, of course. On the other hand, how many have been repaired, like mine was?
EDIT!!! So we're on the same page, my tear, and all the C5s Ive seen with the tear, have/had the tear at the stitches just above the gray area......
