I'm not sure what the first part of your question is, but there are separate rev limiters for P/N and in gear. In the case of the M6, there are fuel cuts and throttle cuts for each gear. As to throttle response, a torquier motor will also have better response. I don't consider the LS1/LS6 to be particularly torquey, but there is still a noticeable amount of response to be gained with an automatic car with a simple throttle remap. Give the Chuck CoW booster a google, he advertises just that.
As noted above, I have the CoW booster, WORTH EVERY PENNY! PM me if you have any questions.
It's been awhile since I've looked at my tune in HpTuners, I wouldn't be surprised if I had made some changes to throttle response, however what I definitely did do was put in a Spec aluminum FW, aluminum pressure plate and a longer carbon fiber shaft that eliminated the guibos. Also did 4.10s (not that that matters for this)
That throttle is legitimately spooky now. Not going to lie, took some getting used to. It does like to lurch if you try to creep on level ground in 1st or R. Probably knocked off 20 or 25 pounds from rotating mass in total. It wants to go fast all the time haha.
