I like the sound of my GHL mufflers. I also had the H pipe cut out and welded in sleeves to separate the pipes,
left and right for true dual exhaust.

I know that is a no-no, because I’m not scavenging the exhaust
or whatever it’s called to create more power.
I did it strictly for the sound. There was no loss of performance that I can feel.

My car came with QTP remotely operated exhaust cutouts mounted just downstream of the factory h pipe cross-over.
When they were open, the entire cabin of the car's interior would get a massive pressure change, I could feel inside my ears.. It sounded nasty. (in a bad way)

I later got Borla S-type stingers (part #140017) with the Borla x-pipe and I'm quite pleased with the sound. Nice deep muscle car tone. Not too loud at idle but comes alive at higher rpm. I haven't experienced anything like the previous cutout droning with the Borla exhaust.

FWIW Borla actually advertises them as "no drone".

It's interesting people's perception of drone. Coming from cutouts and getting Stinger I'm sure would be "less drone". Those can style Borla mufflers were known to drone. UNLESS they changed the design from the original/initial offering of this system. I would doubt it, not much you can change inside a muffler case that small.

I like loud, but that’s me. It’s not for everyone. Long tube headers with B&B bullet cat back. Had my car like this since 2007. Never had a problem with the install, products, or tune.

Bullets are a very deep low tone. I thought of switching to the corsa extremes, as someone once explained the sound as a high pitch scream.

The loud systems also drone, you definitely need Cats with an extremely loud system.

I didn't find cats to do anything for sound in my case. LT's,catted,x pipe, Corsa Sport was no drone but also fairly loud. Cats vs no cats didn't change the sound but did clean up the gas smell with my cam.

I was in a car with the same set up that I have, except no cats. It was so loud you couldn’t hear yourself talk. It got old after 10 minutes. Yes, and the smell is nasty. Put cats on.

All of the Z06 TI Axle back systems I found on ebay say they aren't compatible with my 2000. Is this true? Or will they work without any modification?

The Z06 Ti cat back is a direct bolt on. Have no fears in getting on. Watch the forum for one for sale, facebook market place, etc. A good system in good shape will be around $500. You will see some pop up though that have been cut and are cheap, but its a hassle to get them installed correctly.
