So, this last week was not a good one for me as I obviously hit something on the road which ripped the heck out of my wheel. I am amazed that it is still holding air, Now I am forced to buy new wheels a little earlier than what I had planned. I was thinking to move up to 18's so that all 4 corners would be the same plus I might gain a little height in the front. First though does anyone know what wheel this is. It looks like a replica as I believe the 99 Coupe came with the alloy wagon wheels and this car has the 5 spoke chrome wheels. Second, is moving up to 18's a possibility without hitting the fenders or causing issues? I have been searching online to get a part number for this wheel so if anyone has any information, I would appreciate it if you shared that. Thanks in advance, cheers!!!
That looks like it was slid into a curb. Anyhow that's a chrome copy and if you only want a replacement then just try local FS, CL or FB for guys selling C5 wheel sets. https://www.corvettemods.com/C5-Corv...611427d585db38
If you want to go 18/19 or just 18 square there a ton of wheels. Aftermarket, C6, C7 just depends on what your taste is. Try the forum search
FWIW; Really want to check with a 4wheel alignment after a hit like that. Good luck
Thank you for the information, sir and yes on the alignment. I think I will change all out to black double 5 spoke 18x8.5 front and 18x9.5 in back. I know this is not a true stagger but at least they are all squared on 18's.

It is a Y2K style wheel, and you can tell if it is a replica by just taking it off the car and looking on the back spokes. If it is a chromed GM wheel, it will have a GM symbol somewhere on one of the spokes. (And yes I know GM did not offer chrome wheels on the C5, but some dealers and vendors offered an exchange program.)
Heck of a hit there. Good luck in whatever direction you go - stock sizes, 18's all around or even 18/19 setup.
Bought these a few years ago from tire rack.
flow one F4 wheels
18x9.5 front
19x10.5 rear
just posting in case your interested.
275 35 tire front
305 30 tire rear
no fitment issues
@Vetteman Jack Hey there Jack I know you know you are right but just telling you that yes, you are right on the Y2K C6 wheels. Pulled one off and checked the back for markings and that is exactly what the numbers indicated. I believe CMods and others sell them as C5/C6 Y2K replicas.
@vette4fl Okay Bill I know about you and black wheels, but I just like the contrast of a red Corvette and black wheels along with other black exterior mods. Since I am changing wheels (at least 6 months before plan) due to this untimely accident I will be going wider in the rear to the extent of adding a wide read body in the near future. At this moment I am thinking 18's all around or an 18/19 setup which I really don't want to do because then I am stuck with a staggered setup again like the OEM was. I don't really know what burns me about a staggered setup because I know a lot of owners have them. Maybe it's my old age trying to figure when we moved off of Fiberglass radials from the 60's, lol.
@Beast Thanks for the data you shared as I had just completed my search for wheel selection and trying to decide if I could go +1 on the fronts and +2 on the rears. I started by using OEM as my baseline of 17x8.5 with +56mm offset and 6.5" of BS for the fronts and 18x9.5 with 61mm offset and 7.5" BS for the rears. With that in mind, I believe I can do 18x9.5 with 56mm offset and 7.45" BS for the fronts and the same wheel for the rear with a wider tire for the rear. If I can fit a 19" in the rear without issues, I just may be sold on the staggered look especially when I go rear wide body. Just for laughs, I was also eyeing those flow Ones you have. That starfish/spider/crab look is eye catching.
Anyway, thanks to you all for your input.and if you have more info to share I am all ears. Boy I wish this didn't happen at this time but hey, what the heck, now I am driven for new wheels. Cheers!!!
If you're going to go 18 and 18, getting two different widths completely defeats the purpose. Get on FB and find another set of stock rear wheels. They will fit just fine. You can run the same size tire - the 275/40 won't rub. A 275/35 on all four corners will look better, though - and you won't have any issues. Plus you will gain the ability to rotate your tires.
I am now struggling with the wheel pattern of the new wheels I want to buy. OEM spec is 5x120.65 with a 70.33 center bore. The wheels I am looking to buy have the correct bore but the lug pattern is 5x120. The +56mm and +61mm offset match as does the BS of 6.5" to 7.5". It's just the bolt pattern that is off by literally a hair. I couldn't find any information if our Corvette pattern is hub centric or bolt centric which would help. So has anyone here run a set of 5x120 or should I just stick with finding 5x120.65? TIA and cheers!!!
Wheels rookie designed for the C5 have been bastardized from the original for so long, the cohesive allure has long gone... To some, that's a good thing, to others it's shameful... Who is John Galt.
Well, I am glad I had the time today to pull the wheel off so I could check the wheel markings for sizing, etc. Good thing I did as the front wheels are 17x9.5 with a +56 offset. They were mad by Topline Wheels a company out of China that makes replicas. But the good thing for me anyway was to find out a 9.5 with that offset would fit in the front. So I just may go with a 18x9.5 all around on 275-40 or 275-35. Thanks again. Cheers!!!
All depends on the current condition of your rear tires now, I say. 275/40 will fit on all four corners, but they may rub SLIGHTLY at full lock if you are lowered. Here's my car with that exact setup:
In retrospect, I wish I had held out for 275/35s, but these 40s were about $80 per tire cheaper, so I figured why not. Next time, though, 35s it is.
Having 18s in the front won't make you gain height. That depends on the tire and you need to keep roughly a 1 inch height difference if I remember correctly between the front and back tires. Make sure you have your alignment checked because that was a hard enough impact to mess with it.. The biggest thing will be offset and total tire size.

You simply need to make sure the front tires are not taller than the rears. I have zero warning lights with a square setup.
My current rears are 275-40-18 which is 1.1 inch taller than the 275-35 and more sidewall on the 40. However, I think going all around with 275-35-18 on all corners will be the ticket. At least for now I can run my current rears with a new set of wheels and tires up front. Then after the rears wear down, I can swap them to 275-35 to match the front and make rotation much easier as you mentioned earlier Ray. The new wheels will be flat black when purchased then they will get powder coated before mounting. The rears are already sized for the new size up so I am good there for now. I also won't mind getting rid of the RF's in the back. When I swapped out the front to Conti's non RF's, boy what a ride difference did it make.
BTW Ray nice color on your car. I wasn't a proponent of the wagon wheel look, but they do look good against that yellow which is why I am going black on the wheels and anything else I can do in black. I think Jason did his door handles in black and I am having a hard time finding them but if all else fails. I will just have mine painted black.
Half my shipment of wheels just came in and I love them. Can't wait for the other 2 to arrive so I can install them. For rubber I am vacillating between Pirelli, Conti's or Michelin. There is also a new tire (to me) on the scene that goes by the trade name Lionheart. Lowest priced tire afaik but not too much support for their use on a Corvette. Probably because they are new on the scene or maybe because they are from Taiwan (not to get political here). Anyway, I am just happy that wheels are coming then to get a set of tires and go for a spin to Frisco for a break in run. Oh yes and not to forget the 4-wheel alignment for sure. While on that note, what is the best of the best wheel balancer on the market today and who typically uses them? Thanks in advance and for all your input!! I'm stoked. Cheers!!!
