Re: Any one use Tirerack dot com? (av8or3)
I bought a set of Eagle GSCs from Tirerack for my old C4 and I did not have any problems with my order.
The only problem was my local Goodyear dealer wanted a fortune to mount & balance them & dispose of the old tires. I did not feel comfortable taking Vette tires & rims to a small service shop so I bit the bullet and paid the Goodyear dealer to mount them.
Tire rack is great. I've used 'em four or five times, as have lots of friends. Never a problem, very fast delivery.
Regarding blems....SOMETIMES they will specifically advertise "take-offs" and maybe (rarely) blems....NOT seconds!
The take-offs that I've bought were NEW tires that had been removed from stock Z28's by SLP or whoever to install the upgrade tire/'wheel option. The tires still had **** and paint on them, but were quite a bit cheaper than regular cost!! Not bad for a few miles of use from factory to SLP.
Recently bought replacement tires for my Z06 from TireRack.Com - three of the tires were beautiful - but one had a gouge running parallel with the grooves in the tread as if while the tire was spinning, someone had held something against it long enough to burn or wear a mark in it.
It did not look to me as if it would have caused a problem but the owner of the shop where I had them drop shipped (TireRack certified installer program) advised me to send it back - his thought was that if it was heat related, the safe call would be to replace it.
I called and asked for them to send me a new one - they did so without argument and without charging me additional shipping.
Had all four mounted and balanced for a reasonable price, but not before removing the remaining tread from the old ones...
Yes, I "use" The Tire Rack. I will print out an order/quote for my tires on Tirerack.com and take it the a local Goodyear Distributor or other tire shop that sells GoodYears who will price match. The last time I paid $1100 for all four including mount & balance locally.
I've bought tires from them. Great service and great prices. If they were seconds you couldn't tell by looking at them and they have given me great performance and miles.
I've bought several tires from Tirerack and one set for Tires.com. Great results from both. My roommate is a suspension tech at the local Dodge Dealership so no prbs. with mount and balance. Usually you can find a local shop to mount and balance cheap.
I've bought tires from them on four separate occasions. Each expereince was perfect. They are cheaper because they are cranking serious volumes of each manufacturers facilities, and have no distribution channel to support like the dealerships do. The best part is no sales tax in most states, which can really whack you on a $1,400 tire purchase.
Good company, great web site, excellent products, great prices. Not a bad combination I be thinking. :yesnod:
