Default oil life and reset

On the 99 corvette where is the oil life light or notification? How do you reset it when doing oil changes? For synthetic oils is 7500 miles the changing miles? Some of frams oil filters say 10k miles as well as some synthetic oils. Does oil break down after years? The walmart supertech says to change after 5k-10k i think either the synthetic blend or full synthetic or after 1 year. I dont want to waste oil if its still good but i put about 3-4K miles a year on my corvette. I use quaker state full synthetic with a o reillys filter as a daily weekly driver automobile.

push option until it says oil life remaining, hold reset down until it changes to 99% (it doesn't go to 100)

I don't drive either car more than 5 or 6k in a year (my i3 has rex) so I change both once a year, vette in spring and i3 in the fall. It is recommended to change oil annually regardless of miles. Seems silly IMO since I hardly use rex anyways, but the oil breaks down over time and it is a cheap and easy job.

oil change percentage should be under "fuel" on the DIC. just hold down the reset button when you get to it to clear. average change for synthetic is aboot 7500-10K miles driven OR once a year regardless in under those miles. I usually change the oil when it hits 10% life, which is around every three months, 6000-7000 miles driven.

No, that is incorrect!! It is in the "trip" section. You can also reset it by turning the key to on, and pressing the accelerator pedal to the floor 3 times. I have never tried this myself, but there's a YT video that showed this method.......

I cant find any indications of oil life. I tried option didnt get anywhere. I read too just press the gas pedals 3 times but no way of confirming if the oil life has been reset. This is a 99 model.

Do you know how to reset it? press the throttle 3 times to to floor with the key on or off?

yes i got it reset its under trip and pump pedal 3 times i think i may have hit reset with trip a and b mileage. Should be fine i changed it last march after a cam/ 1219 spring, tsp 7.4 pushrod swap 4 months ago. I havent put but maybe 1000 miles on the oil change, cam swap. Mine went to 100% once reset.

I couldn't remember which one it was under...and I use the "trip" button way more often than the "fuel." My memory is starting to go at my age.

There seems to be a lot of confusion here, but there are 2 ways to reset it. Turn the key on, but do not start the car. Then press the gas to the floor 3 times quickly. OR Turn the key on but do not start the car. Press the trip button until you get to oil life remaining, then press and hold the reset button until it resets.

on my personal car, if you try to do either method with the engine running, it will not work.

yes on my 99 i just turned the key on cycled thru the trip and hit the reset over the oil life to reset it to 100%. I seen youtube says press pedal 3 times but no way of confirming unless you cycle thru the trip displays.

I had stated you MUST have the key on. You can reset NOTHING in the DIC with the key off!!

Just a comment/suggestion....next oil change, get a better quality filter...and certainly NOT Fram. Saving a couple bucks on a cheap quality filter is NOT the way to go. Also, per your earlier question...5k is enough between changes with full synthetic oil. Or once a year if you put on less than 5k.

no i didnt get a fram i said i seen fram on autozones ad advertise 10k mile filter i went with the oreillys brand filter thats 5.41$ or something like that. I like the look of the oreillys red and black filter. Ive only used fram on my old fairlane 351c in 2007 when i first started driving havent used one on ls1 always got the autozone synthetic oil special for 25.99$ from 2009-2014. Now i just seen here in the 2020s fram filters advertise 10k miles havent used one yet they are too expensive.

I've been using oreillys microgard MGL51042 if not the stp oil filter.
Yeah i reset it last night under trip with the key on cycle to oil life and hit the reset button went to 100%. Now i may have hit the pedal 3 times.
