Anything will be better than the run-flats! I just put a set of Conti Extreme Contacts on the front of mine to replace the run flats that were on there. It's such a much more enjoyable experience with the new tires. You will not be disappointed!
On my 03A E I shopped and researched tires about a year ago. I wanted smooth, quite, and traction in the rain. I narrowed down to two brands, Firestone Firehawk or General GMax. I went with Generals because the company had a 90Day return guarntee. If I wasn't happy with the GMAXS' , i could return them to the dealer for another set like them or another tire made by General. So far i've been very pleased with my purchase. I still but a Noise Defusser behind the seats to reduce the Road Noise even more. So my advice is Do Your Homework First. The price of tires are now a major purchase. Also I went out to our tires stores like Discount Tire, Walmart, Firestone, Sam"s Club, Costco etc. and did my own reviews from people who had ran different brands and asked them how they liked the tires they were taking offand why did they like the ones they were having installed. This really helped make a buting decison on my tires .
I've said this many times to people: It's Your Money, You spend as you see fit.
Just found out that they are doing away with run flats. My 2004 has these zero pressure tires. What should i change too ?
Who is this "they" that's doing away with run flats? When I owned a C5, the stock Goodyear run flats became a death wish in the rain or damp roads after about 20,000mi miles on them. I switched to Michelin run flats and what a difference! The ride was smoother, quieter, and handled significantly better. If I had known how much better the Michelin run flats were versus the Goodyear run flats, I would have made the switch much sooner. Don't let the nay sayers talk you into running non run flats when the Michelins are available.

I agree - check and see what Michelin has available in runflats - those tires are not going away that I have heard. If you decide to move away from runflats, I had good experiences with Hankook Ventus V12 EVO tires (ran them on two C5s) and Continental Extreme Contact all season tires.
Not heard anything about their doing away with run flats. I would be surprised because other car brands run with them. I had the original Goodyear run flats and switched to Michelin Pilots (run flats) and have no complaints. Good luck with your search.
I went with Firestone Indy 500. Not run flats, got triple A platinum if need be. Price is right, a nice summer tire. I’d wait till your tires age out or Wear out. No sense in wasting $$
My son and I both used the Firestone Indy 500 Firehawks. They have worn really great, look cool, outstanding price, and had a lot of good reviews when I was shopping for tires. The only negative I have is they feel a little "light" when driving on the freeway. I was worried about switching away from run flats, but I bought a tire repair kit and portable inflator that I keep in one of the rear cubby's.

between the portable inflator and triple A I feel covered. Mine don’t feel light but they do like to tram line. Like if you drive over a painted line the front tires wants to follow it. Could be the extra wide tires or suspension slip since I’m at 94k miles.
Michelin and Bridgestone offer run flats in C5 sizes, or you can go with larger rims since there are many run flat choices in 18/19 sizes that will fit the C5.
