I just bought a '01 blk/blk and was wondering about the exhaust. I know our Z's have a titanium system which adds to the performance because of the weight savings.
But why change with an aftermarket system. Is is for better performance, looks, sound or a combination of all.
Finallly, is there one system better than others or is it a matter of cost and personal taste?
Thanks for any input and I look forward to learnng a lot from you guys!
I'm on my 5th C5, and have put an aftermarket exhaust on all of them except this one. I like the OEM exhaust on the Z06, and will not change it. I would like to change the tips if something was out there that was a simple bolt on. The 2002 and 2003 Zs sound a little differant because of the elimination of the pup cats and differant main cat.
A wonderful upgrade both sound and power wise is an FLP header /Xpipe system it will kick on additinal25+ ponnies at the wheels, and any further mods would be coming from an exhaust system with long tubes/x pipes and fre flow 3" cats. The tone is very muscular and you still maintain a good weight savings becaause the Ti parts remain.Even though youre getting 20-30 additional ponnies it feels like 50+ add a cam the LPE STAGE2 THAT WE USE ON OUR STROKERS AND STOKERS the usual 20 pony cam will give you 35 rrwhp with the addition of a blackwing so this system sets up a viscious setting for the HI Compression LS6 setup that easily jumps HP in a quick honest,EZ way anf at great prucws.Dave S Xtreme M.S.480-517-4969 we will not be undersold,if we dont sell it it we road and dyno tested and iy came up short of our expectations.Dave s.
