Hmmm …. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. You are a closed minded person.
there have been no issues of that sort with these tires not even their race drift tires or aircraft tires. It’s stupid not to consider every option.
you should send a letter to GM and tell them they are close minded to use Michelin tires on there high performance cars, they should use CHEAP options.
Thank you for your reply and pictures. Have you taken a look at the manufacture date on the tires? In their ad they say their tires may be 4-5 years old before sending them out for sale due to warehouse storage. Was wondering what the age of yours was when you received them?
I would pass on them based on this. They could be super great quality, but that doesn't matter if they're also old. Tires (especially high performance tires) should be replaced every 6 years. As such, these tires will only last 1-2 years based on the date code. That's why they're so cheap.

Somebody told them apparently about using cheap plastic interiors and they rolled with it.
Are you saying that a 300 dollar tire is less likely to catch a nail or a screw on the road and is less likely to have a flat ?
Yes I am!.... What would you be saying if one of the 132 dallar tires CAME WITH THE CAR when new off the line?
Seems as a certain racecar group(nascar) is using these 132 dallar tires.... Check out the tv pic of the tire that came off the poor racecar... I don't want them on My Vette.!

The OP specified that he was not racing the car. He just wanted an all season touring tire.
I've owned a C7. That's a 550 HP high performance Corvette that I probably would not put cheap tires on.
A C5? At 350 HP, I think he's safe. I don't consider my C5 to be a high end, performance, sports car. I consider it to be a $15000 car that is a blast to drive.
And you still bought it right ?
I am sure you can sell it fast.
Sure I did.
It's a fun car that is cheaper than a Toyota Camry. There is always a trade off with cheap cars. That's why we MOD them and that's part of the fun of owning one.
I get no attachment to cars. I am sure I will sell it when the itch for it goes away.

you are wrong in so many levels.
first of all tire performance is not measured by how much horsepower it can handle,
its speed,
G force
Temperature
air pressure
Compound type
So if you think 350 hp C5 can not out perform 750 Horsepower Dodge Challenger on the curvy roads
u are delusional,
there comes your tire quality factor not the horse power or the price of the car,
wet road factor,
try cheap tires on wet roads and find out the difference
If you don’t know what’s the difference between quality tire and cheap tire don’t post nonsense.
What I don't understand is that to you an expensive tire must be good and a cheap tire must be bad. Do you buy by price point or research?
Having read what's out there about this tire and the company that makes it, I think the OP would be just fine. This company makes tires that allow planes to land safely. I am pretty sure they have the quality control necessary to handle a little old Vette.

Except that the tires in question are already 4-5 years old! That's why they're so cheap. If they were brand new, they would cost a lot more.

Good point. It really all depends on how much you drive your car too.
Any tire, at any age will get too old for me real quick. I usually average about 2500 to 3000 miles a year on the 2 sports cars I own because I drive the family SUV and my work van as DDs.
Considering I don't keep a car more than a couple of years anyway, This would not be a bad trade off for me. Every person has a different circumstance. May not be a great deal after all if you keep your Vette forever and it's your DD.
I just bought a pair of these Petlas pt741 to use as front runners with my drag pack. They balanced well and run great. They were on memorial Day sale for like $68 each. Since I have another set of wheels with nice tires I figured why not try. They are performance summer tires, certainly grippier than the average all-season. We'll see how long they last
So if I may redirect this slightly for just a moment: where does one get tires such as these mounted and balanced? I suppose if I buy them through WallyWorld, then perhaps WallyWorld tire services will mount them for me? I know if I buy from Tire Rack, Tire Rack will have an associated tire center near me that will agree to mount and balance Tire Rack tires, but how does one do so with Ebay or similar tire purchases?

A Few different ways. Ive taken a few sets I purchased on eBay to Discount Tire and they mounted and balanced for $20each tire. I have used local Mexican tire shops too and they usually do it for about the same price.
