[Z06] Partition comparo
I didnt really want a partition until I saw one in a SC'd Z06 at competition development. I was hooked ;) I'm not sure what kind the SC Z had but I believe it was vinyl or leather on one side w/ carpet on the other. I wanted mine to be similar so I searched the boards and with the help of other forum members, found a guy in Vancouver B.C. who make's custom partitions for about $200. I called him up and we talked for about 15 minutes, really nice guy. He can basically make anything you want. I ordered mine leather on one side w/ carpet on the other w/ a custom logo. I think the total came out to be $250 or so.
The $250 is cheaper than most vendors who sell the same thing for closer to $400 so I think I got a good deal. I havent recieved mine yet but I'll be sure to post pics as soon as I do.

I searched for "vinyl partition" on corvetteforum.com and I found numerous posts with satisfied customers. This will be my first partition so I cant help with comparisons. Good luck!
Oh yeah, I also forgot to mention in my initial post that I do not want to make my own partition.

Best bang for buck is Ecklers $39 and matching carpet that you select (if you don't care about carpet, you could use vinyl, etc., or just leave as is). The $99 Ecklers has good reviews, but the carpet may not match and it's only carpeted on one side. The highest reviews for quality/fitment are for "Andy's" wood partition (heavier). Best fully finished foam design is $299 version from Ecklers (my opinion from specs and pictures; no reviews yet). The coolest and newest is a custom made Carbon Fiber version from Dave Lee (just a pound or two).
You could call Ecklers to get an estimate of product weight (they'll have some idea for shipping). Foam-based products should be extremely light. Carbon fiber runs about $300.

Here is an installation that I did with Andy for his partition that 21stcentury was talking about. http://www.superdork.net/partition/
Here are some interesting things I have learned about partitions since I put mine in and have seen all the others come into the market.
1. Many people have different opinions about the way they would like the partition to attach to their car. I was really really nervous about drilling into my new car, but now I am perfectly happy with it. Others will not do it at all. Be sure that you are comfortable with the way the partition attaches.
2. There are a lot of options out there on the partitions. Earlier in the thread you saw a mention of a leather one. Others are vinyl. Others are foam. Yet others are cloth (on one side or both). You can also get different color combos and even buy logos for them. Make sure you pick a style that you like.
3. Think about why you want the partition. Are you buying it for looks? Are you getting it to reduce sound? Or are you getting it so that you can have a useable trunk? These relate to the previous two questions - how it attaches and how it is made.
Good luck with your search. If you are diligent you can find the expensive ones used at great prices.
Also, my favorite part to go with the partition is the trunk covers. I really really like having a flat load floor back there. It helps with groceries and what not since the Z06 is my only car. A must have in my opinion.
On the center cover, there are several different models you can choose from as well. There is one that has latches like on the hardtops (pre-Z06), but you have to drill into the car to install the necessary latches. The one I got only had velcro to hold it down. I was highly skeptical at first, but because there is velcro along the 4 edges it works unbelievably well. I have to be careful I don't bring the carpet up with the cover when I take it out.
Again, good luck with your search!

I was the one who was going to post the comparison between the Exit 28 and the Ecklers partition. I have not been able to post on that forum for sometime. It says I have an invalid password, but yet it won't let me sign out. So I am always signed in under an invalid name, so I can't post. Anyway I got the Ecklers partition and liked that much better than the Exit 28. Personal opinion the Exit 28 partition is sooo heavy I would be worried about the thing taking off my head in a quick stop. The Ecklers is real light, compression fit, looks good and is cheap in comparison. I plan on having it covered on the unfinished side, which will be done this Winter. The guy in Canada I heard does great work, but I won't deal with him. I talked to him several times and he NEVER did what he said he would. Ecklers sells a $299 sound deadening partition, but I did not like the looks of it. I saw it at a Vette show and it is just a black vinyl piece. Apparently the fact that it has the sound deadening material in it makes it cost $299.
