while not the fastest car by today's standards, it sure gets out of its own way ....I love the lines and curves of the c5. I even love all the cheap plastic alot of people complain about, it brings me back to a time when all cars where like that....I guess I can say I love everything about my c5. .
I don't like coilovers or harnesses or any of that junk. But sometimes people install stuff like that and big brakes just to make the car look cool, it doesn't necessarily mean its tracked or beaten.
Price is def too high. Needs an experienced mechanic to look at every detail whether its been abused, color of the insides, condition of frame, etc...
axles replaced maybe it has wheel hop or something because of the coilover suspension so it destroyed stuff in the rear.
I recommend find a stock corvette if it's your first one. Mods are:
1. more fun to do yourself, your flavor
2. it is difficult to un-do mods you do not like, more often than not
3. Its hard to tell how people wired stuff, or how work was done, until its too late
4. Somebody did something wrong you might not be able to fix easily

Once you get a feel for the stock vehicle looks/performance you can decide whether a mod was an improvement *you'll never miss what you never had*
That said, I'll tell you what I did. I had a higher miles (140K) '02 vert M6 that was in pretty good condition but I wanted a little more power and nicer sounding exhaust. I considered doing some mods (rear end gears, cat back, maybe HCI) but instead I found a 30K miles, all stock '02 Z06 at an excellent price. I am very happy with this car and don't feel the need to do any mods to it.
You could find a decent Z06 for what they were asking for the car you posted.
