Column lock
Do all c5 have the Column lock issue, someone said only manual cars have thiss issue not the autommatic.I’m in the process of buying a 2000 vert automatic and was wondering if I should have my mechanic install it preventive

Read the sticky on unavailable parts for the 97-2000 cars. The column lock is the least of the problems (it has known/solid fixes). Some of the other issues are more problematic. That being said, if you have found a GOOD car, then offer as appropriate and deal with the fixes as things come up. Good luck and let us know (an it didn't happen without pictures...)
