Default Borla headers

Trying to research Borla headers for the C5, but I cannot find any information about them. Comparable to Kooks? Any information is appreciated.

It's my understanding that Borla made the SS headers for LG back in the day when I bought mine.

I don’t think they make them anymore, but right now there is a sale on TPS headers 1 7/8 inch and x pipe with free coating for $1199.99 made in USA, just ordered them yesterday.

Checked their website. I have a '98. What is the dipstick tube needed for? I see it's required.

The early C5 has the dipstick tube bolted to exhaust manifold, later dipstick tube bolts somewhere else, this is my 1999.

Someone said they pulled dipstick tube out turned it half spin and bent the tab some and bolted to head.

Right behind dipstick tube you can see a bolt head that looks like the same size as the bolt that holds tab onto exhaust manifold, maybe that location could work with some slight bending of dipstick tube tab.

I wonder if a line clamp could be used around dipstick tube, and bolt up to that bolt behind the dipstick.

Glad to help, I’ll try to get pictures when they arrive, UPS says Tuesday by 9pm, pretty fast shipping considering I ordered them yesterday (Friday at 4:30 PM)

Not sure when they are going on.

Also have a used LS6 intake I bought last year to install, and if ECS still has mail order tune for $150.00 will have to do that, and see how the 1999 M6 will perform with stock engine, the headers and Borla 4 tip S type stinger, LS6 intake.

So, are you going to pull the trigger and buy them, and if so are you getting catted X pipe or no cats?

Speed engineering headers are cheaper but they aren’t coated, and you have to cut off some of the factory x pipe to have flanges to bolt up, and everyone says you need to spend another $100.00 to buy better band clamps.

I had to keep readjusting my Borla 4 tips every time after driving for a couple of weeks after install, maybe 6 times, with the chopped off flanges clamped to x pipe, I imagine the Borla tips would really be hard to get and keep adjusted, so these should save some time/aggravation.

Yes, I plan on purchasing them without cats. I currently have a Borla x pipe connected to a set of Billy Boat Bullets. I also have started buying parts to install a cam. I went with a Texas Speed stage 2 cam so I didn't have to swap out the converter. I figured the headers, no cats and BB Bullets would complement the cam and sound awesome. So far I have the cam, push rods and springs. Nothing is getting installed this winter, it will have to wait until next winter unfortunately.

I don't know who made the early LG headers, but they were a direct copy of Wheel to Wheel headers.

FWIW..... ALL '01-'04 C5s have the later dipstick, which bolts to the head......

Nice! Is this a winter project? I spoke to Cesar at TPS yesterday asking some questions and just general conversation. Great guy! Also read his thread about his installation a few years ago. Looks pretty "easy". Look forward to seeing your final pictures. Thank you for the follow up!

I want to do them soon, have to finish some other things first, then get after it.

Mike at TPS recommended the tunnel plate with heat shield, I didn’t buy it but may look into getting it, or put heat shielding on the factory tunnel plate while it’s apart.

Would like to buy a go pro camera and get some video of the car with Borla stingers from rear of car and inside driving, then a follow up video after putting on headers and X pipe.

Maybe I’ll buy my girlfriend the Go Pro camera for Christmas and then “borrow” it.😀

I'm interested in seeing and hearing the final product. I have an Elite Engineering tunnel plate I bought off Facebook marketplace several months ago. I knew some day I was going to do headers. Hope your install goes well!
