I'm looking at buying a pretty clean 02 Z06 for what I believe is a reasonable price (18k). Seller mentioned that the only thing wrong with it is a reduced engine power code (p1516). It seems that the TAC modules and TPS sensors are the likely culprits. Has anyone else experienced these issues and were you able to fix them or is this a rabbit hole that you can't climb out of? not sure I want to spend 18k on a car that I won't be able to drive.
Car has LG headers and x-pipe, I've seen a few posts where the code might be caused by the headers but unsure of why that would be.
It would be unimaginable that the seller did not look into this issue in detail before listing it for sale at 18k.
He knows something he's not telling you. If it was an easy fix, he would have fixed it and sold the car for 20-25k. Good luck.
People that sell cars with known major issues or tell you " they don't have time to fool with it" make me nervous.

Seller stated that he had this problem about 2 years ago when he bought the car and that getting a replacement TAC module fixed the issue but now started having the issue again last week.

I would be pretty skeptical too - if they are easy fixes, why hasn’t he addressed them. Perhaps someone on here can guide you in the right direction when it comes to how hard those issues would be to get resolved.
Ended up asking the seller if he would agree to fix the issue and I would pay an extra $500 for the cost of a TAC module, waiting for a reply but any continued diagnostic advice would still be greatly appreciated.
So the seller states that the code comes on intermittently and isn't constant, that makes me think it may be a short in the wiring harness or a bad/corroded ground. Think I may pull the trigger, he's been very upfront while talking on the phone and seems trustworthy from our conversations, but any continued diagnostic advice is greatly appreciated.
How many miles did this owner rack up in those 2 yrs?
just an idea… if yr one was 7k miles and yr 2 is 1k miles than id be worried that hes tried countless things to get it running over the last yr
