I just bought a 2000 convertible. I knew it needed a new top as the material is starting to rip and it has some mildew on it. I ordered one and should be here within the month. I'm having the same issues, just realized that it's leaking by the back window as it is no longer attached to the top. I don't think the fit is as good as it should be also. Hopefully when the top gets put on it will fix my issues.

One thing to try is make sure all windows make good contact with the weatherstripping and also ensure that the weatherstripping is soft and well conditioned (use some dielectric grease, natural silicone lubricant, etc).

Condensation on the inside of the windshield/ windows= Moisture in the car. Water is getting in.
Feel the carpet all the way around the car, mainly around the seat tracks. That will give you an idea where the leak is.
It could be in multiple spots, but wet carpet areas are what to look for.

One main reason Convertible C5s were a one and done for me. Good luck!

They are almost impossible to keep dry if it’s a car left outside. I bought a brand new C5 convertible over 20 years ago and the windows would have condensation in the inside if I left it outside here in Florida.

My C5 Vert sits outside 24/7 with a top only waterproof cover that fits loosely (California POP TOP) and also leaving the two front windows down about 1 inch from the top. This promotes air circulation within the cabin for moisture control and heat in the summer. I have not had any issues with moisture within the cabin in 8 years of ownership.

I agree that you have a water leak somewhere. make sure that the back window is secure. This is a known failure point. If that looks good, do as Jack suggested. Dielectric grease can work wonders. As a last resort, both the top and windows can be adjusted if you're not getting a good seal. Good luck!
