Just curious... is $1,900 a reasonable price to replace the rear main seal, replace the clutch and cut the OEM flywheel and replace the slave cylinder?
It's a 2000 C5 in almost excellent condition.

Yes, that seems reasonable. At least compared to what my local shops would charge

That seems like a good price. When I had my evo 9 MR it was just 1600 to replace the clutch

Yeah, that's not a bad price. The rear main by itself would be $1k+.

Very reasonable. I'd bet that job books at 10+ hours of labor. If that includes parts, it's decent.

yeah he said 9.5 hours @ $145/hr plus parts - $1,900. I just wasn’t sure if I should do it. The car is a 6 speed in excellent condition.. other then the leak!

First time I’ve heard or read of cutting an LS flywheel. $1900 including parts and doing the rear main is a bargain - but verify what parts are going in. Nothing wrong with a LUK 04173 or 04905 (and both clutch kits include new flywheels), but I would worry about anything lower than that.

That’s an excellent price, but make sure about the parts. Also, have them install a remote clutch bleeder, this is a must! Tik and Katech offer them.

The LS1/6 flywheel is not compatible with the GM LS7 clutch, or the LUK LS7 style clutch, and the older clutch is no longer available. So you should get some clarification from your mechanic on what they are planning.

GM sells the LS7 clutch kit that includes a new flywheel for a couple hundred dollars more than the aftermarket LUK. Your call.

The LS7 clutch is now the standard GM clutch replacement for all corvettes from 1997-2013. It’s rated for the C6Z06 which is over 500 hp, so it’s good now and a few upgrades down the road.

Finally, spend about $100 more for a new clutch master cylinder, so the entire hydraulic system is fresh.

Heres an example of the GM LS7 clutch kit (aluminum flywheel is an optional upgrade).
