I want so badly to track my Procharged 03 convertible I did the local quarter mile and since I was under 13 (didn’t give me my slip so I don’t know by how much) but was told I can’t run faster than 13 without a roll cage. I’m looking for something easy to install but that still meets the scca and Nhra safety guidelines.
What would you recommend and why? I appreciate the input.
I have a supercharged vert as well. Before you install a cage, you should consider what you primarily use the car for. Personally, since my cat is primarily for street use, I would never install a cage. I don't think it would be worth it for you to just do a few pulls at your local strip. Now, if you are planning to start doing some serious drag racing, that's a different story. Any cage that meets SCCA and NHRA guidelines would be very obtrusive to the top-down driving experience. However, if you're building a race car that doesn't matter.
TBH, I'm surprised the track let you run at all. A stock '03 vert can run the quarter in less than 13 seconds given the correct conditions and a good driver.
You need a 4 point from RPM rollbars. I purchased from TPS motorsports. I have one in my C6 vert. Road Atlanta, RRR, and AMP have been fine with it.Get one and go enjoy your boost!

I know this is obtrusive, I was actually considering as an alternative getting the aftermarket hardtop and seeing if I can pass that by the local track. However even still that would only allow 10.5+ runs I think.
as to them letting me run, I was thinking the same but let me go once anyway. I’d also like to do some track time so it may be worthwhile

I suspect that you could probably get the removable hard top to pass for slower than 10.5. With that said, if you're running faster than 10.5 you NEED a roll cage. Good luck! Glad to see another forum member out there with a fast C5 vert.

The goal for now is to break 10.0. Currently putting 568 to the wheels on 7lbs. Planning on upgrading the injectors, adding a meth kit, and downsizing the pulley. Should add another 100+ to the wheels.
In light pulls or similar, many underestimated the convertibles output, but I can’t really push limits on the public highways.
I am only speaking about my car and the tracks
I use. I use a Wolf cage. As you go faster you
need more safety equipment. Check with your
sanctioning body (NHRA etc) or buy the rule book.
From what you have said OP ,I dont think you
have ever been through Tech inspection. You
should go, you will learn alot.
Good luck

I will look at the wolf cage as well. You are correct I haven’t been through a tech inspection. Last time I was at a drag strip was in the 90’ in my 72 SD-455 Trans Am. The only thing required then was wearing the factory seatbelt, a helmet, long pants, and shoes.
I’ve been looking into track days but found that I can’t do any road course without a roll bar. I have upgraded brakes, new rubber, car is perfect condition mechanically. So other than adding a fire extinguisher and a roll cage I’m thinking I should be good (unless I break 9 then it’s a whole new ballgame at the strip).
Gator...........usually a blown car will need more than
a 4 point rollbar. Also if you are useing your car for
street use a swing out door bar will come in handy
and the pass side without a swing out door can really
be a problem for the pass.
Good luck
I really want to track but the closest are a couple of hours away so before I make the drive I need the cage.
I have looked at the two recommendations and the Wolf is priced better so that’s probably the way I’ll go unless there is another option I should consider?

How good is visibility out your review with the Wolfe cage?
I was looking for a Wolfe 4 point roll bar for my vert (HPDE). Price seemed reasonable. Indications are that they've gone out of business. the RPM roll bar is about twice as expensive. Are there any other options for someone who just needs the roll bar to pass tech at HPDE?
