"Historical" -- maybe.

When I think "antique" I think of a Model T, not a Corvette.

PARTS OF THE ANTIQUE APPLICATION IN TN:

"PURPOSE: Per Tennessee Code Ann. § 55-4-111, a person may register a vehicle as an “antique motor vehicle” providing that certain requirements are satisfied. The vehicle must be over twenty-five (25) years old and with a non-modified engine and body and can only be used for general transportation on Saturdays, Sundays, and federal holidays."

"II. APPLICANT CERTIFICATION STATEMENT: I certify that I am the owner of the above described vehicle, which is over twenty-five years old and is owned solely as a collector's item and will be used for participation in club activities, exhibits, tours, parades and similar uses, but in no event for general transportation, unless otherwise authorized by Tenn. Code Ann. 55-4-111. I further certify that upon the transfer of interest in the vehicle, if the license plate with which my antique vehicle is registered is a vintage official Tennessee plate, and therefore my personal property, it will be removed; otherwise the antique plate issued by the State of Tennessee will be surrendered to my county clerk"

In this area it absolutely is. Cops troll through business parking lots and wait for the owners when they see these plates where the car was obviously driven to work, to the store, etc. I have talked to enough locals that had these plates for a couple years when I first got my 98... they have them for a year or two then go back to a regular plate after a couple tickets.

A collector plate has a lot more freedom on vehicle use but is harder to get.

Ohio has no emissions, no inspection, not sure what the point of these plates are anyway. Even my ev plate is only 260/yr.

One guy with a riviera says he never have any trouble tho... he works at a garage in maumee. if you work at a medium size office forget about driving it to work.

I have “Historic” plates on my ‘01 Z06. MD allows that after 20 years. Bought the car in December 2020 and waited until Jan 2021 to register it. No inspection, no emissions, reduced fees.

Where I live is the same as many other states - can be used on weekends, holidays only.

p.s. I lived in Maryland (mentioned above) for years, and you have to agree to this:

The vehicle owner will certify the vehicle will be maintained for use in exhibitions, club activities, parades, tours, occasional transportation and similar uses. The vehicle owner further certifies the vehicle will not be used for general daily transportation or primarily for the transportation of passengers or property on highways.

A bit easier than the weekends only restrictions WV has, but still not worth the hassle in my opinion.

There is also something to be said about putting an antique tag on a sports car. We have no inspections here anyway and the $60/ year for a regular registration is not a big deal.
There’s ways of getting around the restrictions here in Tennessee. Going to get gas, having work done or getting an estimate on car, selling car etc..As long as you’re not using it as a daily driver you’ll be ok.
