Welp. Whole area is sold out of all 34/78 and 75/25. Even my wholesaler cant get one. For some strange reason Amazon had a single 75/25 in stock at $5 less than my wholesale cost. All others "available" on Amazon were astoundingly above retail so I ordered. Hopefully it's a new fresh unit.

Huh?
Did you not click the Amazon link in post #2?
The yellow top is in stock and can be delivered by Wednesday
Looks liken 25/75 and 34/78 are available in yellow and red... assume both fit... what's the difference?.CCA?
The 78 or 78/34 is a longer battery. For a C5 you are looking for 800 CCA which was the factory spec. Me? I'm an Odyssey fan. My truck however, gets a Walmart Maxx as there is nothing much to worry about under the battery. Unlike the C5.
The yellow top is a deep cycle battery, and thus will stand up the the parked charge draw of the C5 better than the red top. I killed many red tops before finding this out. The good thing about Optima is that they are really good about honoring the warranty, so I only paid once for the 4 red tops I went through.
When the battery that came in our C5 at the time of purchase went kaput, we went to the local auto parts store to look for an AGM battery. The only one they had in stock was the Optima Red Top 34/78. This battery comes with both top and side terminals.
The top terminals have NO protection to prevent accidental contact. The battery did come with a "height adapter" that looks like it could be used either under or on top of the battery.
I placed the adapter on top of the battery as it has "pockets" that cover the terminals. It looks as if it should connect but the problem is that this cover doesn't clip securely to the battery. It sits so loosely that I'm concerned it will bounce off, so I've chosen to tape the cover in place to keep it from bouncing around.
This seems like a rather inelegant solution to me.
Has anyone else encountered this problem? If so, do you have any suggestions as to how to handle this? The Optima web site didn't provide any information and I simply don't want to leave the top terminals exposed.

They come with the Odyssey battery. Probably why it's so much more expensive... That and it's the best - and the heaviest. More lead in its you-know-what I guess.
