Has anybody used the product C5 Wheel Armour? It is supposed to be applied to your wheels and protect them mostly from brake dust. I just purchased new aftermarket C6 ZR1 style rims and want to protect them from brake dust.
Welcome to the Forum, Patrick, and congratulations on your C5!
I am not familiar with wheel Armour but will follow this post to see what answers/feedback you receive.
This stuff is a mystery... What's its actual use? Answer our earthly questions on behalf us C5 Corvette people of the world ?... Purhaps she'll answer the question for us earth dewelers living on this plane of automotive lunacy .. The web page is sorta strange . She thinks it's gonna help? ... and help exactly What! for heaven sakes ?
I use armorall outlast. None of these products really do a lot, but generally they will help with the brake dust not sticking *as much* to the wheels.
you'll still have to wash as you normally do, but if you wash them frequently, I've found that the armorall product mitigates against having to use something like a clay bar.
I've used it and for the $$ IMO, not worth it. The effectiveness is all but gone after one washing. If you're not tracking your car brake pad change is a better alternative IMO and or a wheel that is less noticeable !
I put some chemical guys ceramic stuff on my newish wheels. We'll see if it makes scraping the caked on brake dust any easier at the end of next track season... I did 4 wheels and coated inside barrels twice and used less than 1/4 of product, the bottle was $25. It should last quite a while if I only use it once a year.
