Default Floppy rear view mirror

My w/s rear view seems to have lost its grip where the mirror joins the mount. Any bump or just driving will cause it to move from where it was, very little resistance in the joint. Any way to tighten this up?

Is it the ball joint or the windshield mount?

If its the ball joint, try wrapping the ball with alum foil, or adding some grit like lapping compound.

Yes, the ball joint. I haven't checked, I assume I can separate the ball joint to do this?

I have an extra mirror and looking at it there rae two pivot points. At the windshield mount and the mirror body. I don't see where they can be separated.
