Default convertible trunk
I replaced my trunk struts 3 months ago but didn't really take note of how much the trunk lid opened. Mine seems to open at maybe a 45 degree angle to the body. Can someone post a pic of how much their trunk opens for me? It's possible I received the struts for the tonneau cover (which have also been replaced) that are a bit shorter......

Moi. I'd Take a pic of the strut but the car is sitting under a cover thats a pia to remove...............

I replaced my trunk struts last year when they started to fail. I went with a set of chrome aftermarket struts, however in answer to your question, the trunk lid opens up almost completely vertical. Here's a pic of my C5 golf cart.

msg you done good!... a cleaner boot unattainable... Tell us about the chromies source... Including the fastners and trunk hardware components.... The inside surface of the lid repainted?

Thanks. Original owner so I've been customizing for almost 20 years. Trunk hardware was from a vendor called Creative Engine Covers who offered a bunch of chrome finished parts. I don't think they are in business anymore as I installed all that back in 2012. The chrome trunk struts are available at Corvette Central. The 3-piece embroidered trunk lid liner is from Car Motorsports. The other SS hardware was picked up at a local hardware store.

That is definitely higher than mine for sure. Looks like I may be right..........wrong struts. The good news is the tonneau struts are correct. The trunk is wrong but so much easier to replace.........Thanks MSG

Zip Corvette sent me the wrong struts a few years ago. It definitely sounds like what you're describing. I would recommend getting the correct part.

Are you saying the trunk pops open 45°???! Or its open limit is@45°? It should open much farther than just 45°!!

It opens no further than around 45 degrees......makes loading the trunk a pia
