Default Nitto production issues

eerrrrrrr... no chance on nitto NT05's (305/35/19 for 19x11 rear wheels) Backorder and even nitto reps have no clue when they will be available; however, rumor has it they'll be ready in May. Anyhow do i just say the heck with the NT05's and go with the NT555r2's and call it a day? Ive read countless reviews write ups on both and still have no clue whats really best for my vette. 475/490 at wheels and i only drive on the street. Dont drive in the rain.... not into digs. More of a get on her while she's in motion. Anyhow if anyone can give me some feedback i would appreciate it. .Thanks!

You'll get a crap ton of opinions on tires around here. A lot depends on how many miles you plan to put on them and what your expectations are.

I went from NT555's all around that aged out (maybe 20k miles) to NT555R2 rears and G2 fronts three years ago. The R2's are a good sticky tire especially for the price. They ride nice, aren't noisy, and are great for traction from a dig or rolling & between shifts with big power. They also handle curves very well for a DR.

They also work well in rain. Better than I ever would have thought. I don't intenionally have my C5 out when it rains either.... but 25yrs/140k miles sh*t happens and the occasional summer storm has snuck up on me a few times.

I like them and I will definitely buy them again.

I was under the impression they discontinued the NT05R since they're out of stock everywhere, but the NT555R2 is plentiful. I just researched the crap out of them because I was also looking for a 27"+ tall sticky tire that was as close to a non-DR as possible. Plenty of people across different platforms with more power vouch for the 555R2. That was my plan until I came up with a sweet discount at Tire Rack and decided to splurge on R888Rs for a little bit more. I'll be running their 325/30/19 on a 19x11 as well. Unfortunately they don't make a taller size that would work, but I'm more than happy to run it vs a 305/35/19 for overall performance and aesthetics.

I trust you'll like them. I've been street driving the R2's since 2021 and I've thrown hard shifts and a few launches at them. They grip.

I had them break loose on one drive while stabbing the throttle on an on-ramp. It was 47 degrees out that morning, the tires were cold and I nailed it in attempt to break them loose. But they quickly regained traction even when cold. This is at 634/568 at the wheels.

The tires hold their own especially when warm and it's warmer out. I'd be blowing through a non DR no matter what the outside temps are at.

Enjoy the new meats!

The NT05R DR, as we understand it, is no longer in production; NT555R II is the only DR option from Nitto right now. The NT05 street tire is still available and from what we're seeing, there are three(3) floating around nationwide in the 305/35R-19 size.

If you are after a drag radial, the NT555RII is solid option for your use. This model does hold it's own from a dig, and really shines from a roll.

Yo Johnny Hardcore finally had them mounted and balanced the other day... some potenza's in front (nothing special but better than what I had) and the 555r2's are a big improvement over my fushions and nt05's...

Excellent! I was pretty confident you'd like them. Glad I wasn't mistaken.
