Hi, I see ebay has a good deal on a set of 17" and 18" repo chrome wheels. My question is has anybody tried these? How is the chrome quality and how do they hold up over time. Thanks Bob
I had a set of chromed reproduction Z06 wheels that held up great on the outside, but eventually started to peel on the barrels. Sparkled rolling in the sun. Only downside was how heavy they were.
I almost went with a deep dish version of the OEM wheels from that company, I ended up finding a nice set of C6 wheels but I may still go that route, they seem to be good wheels

I ran some reproduction C5 Z06 wheels on two of my C5s - they were made by Factory Reproductions. The last set came on the car as part of the Milestone Edition package and were installed when the car was bought new in 2003. When I traded the car in 2018, the wheels still looked excellent.

I have seen this barrel peeling on C5 thinspokes. In fact, I have 6 re-pop, chromed thinspokes. Every one has barrel peeling, and every one has a rough, lathe turned finish. Almost like very shallow threads. This means the lathe feed was set on a pretty rapid speed. It would take a LOT of refinishing and polishing before the chrome could be applied, and expected to stay on for any length of time. I don't think that even the polished, factory thinspoke Speedlines are polished to any great degree on the barrels.

I used these guys to get my C7 rims for my C5. They have a huge selection of OE replica stuff and good prices if you buy a set. You can get them mounted/balanced with new TPMS sensor installed and shipped right to ya ready to install. I couldn't find a better deal locally and these guys have good reviews. Some of the rims that say "back ordered" like the 5 spoke Grand Sports will not be back in stock they said.
Got mine installed today. Since I don't know the TPMS history and for all I know they're the originals I had them replaced. Center cap decals should be here today. If anybody knows the number for the rebuild kit for the 10438853 sensor I can hang onto these as spares or to help out another member one day.
"C5 Reproduction wheels"... There must be a way for one to determine if these reproduction wheel makers are good or bad!... Or.... Is it a crap shoot?... I want to hear from a good, legitimate, engineered wheel company... and not Joe's Wheel shop from Majorcaorca, Spain! 🤨
OE wheels that have been on my car at least 15 years. Still in real nice condition
I've had these C6-styled wheels on my Corvette for 8 years, and they still look like the day I got them. In-fact, I got a different set of wheels from them 2 weeks ago for the C5, but won't be ready to install them for another few months.
Received wheels yesterday, fast shipping. Wheels look good and chrome looks great. Installer said they balance out with little weight. Time will tell how well they hold up, but a great upgrade for now.
