I'm using the G2 kit on this 03, in gold, I notice it needs to be a second and a third coat, I stirred the paint in the can before I added the reactor for the paint. The kit I used on the 07 I had was in red and it was much easier to cover, the gold just needs more coverage I guess. pic's to come !

Some paints cover better and depending on what you are covering matters too. Just the nominations and the type of paint.

I had a friend get deported for not painting his calipers. Is it really worth the risk?

When I painted the calipers on my C5s, I just painted over the letters, let the paint thoroughly dry, then used an exacto knife to carefully remove the paint from the face of the lettering. Worked very well.

A small, fine file will do the same.

I painted the one side yesterday and I think it came out Ok ? first time using the G2 kit in gold. Dupli-Color doesn't have a kit in gold, wanted to do the front caliper lettering in black, but my hands shake a little too much, but they are done on the passengers side for now. not real happy with the finish

stock :

And in G2 gold :

If anyone has used a paint pen, please let me know what and where I should look for one in black ? that might work better.

I like the brackets being done in a contrasting black; sets off the calipers and should make the black lettering stand out more.
I understand you are a little disappointed that the finish did not come out quite like you would prefer, but remember, most looking at your car will not be on hands and knees trying to get the same one-foot close up view that you present with your photos. Standing beside your nice AE and looking at the wheel area “normally”, I believe that viewers will just see that you were using the gold calipers to tie in to the gold used in the 50th Anniversary emblems.
Point’s for thinking outside the box, and remember, we are typically our own harshest critic.

Just did mine. Masked the rotor with masking tape and spray painted the entire caliper red with several coats. Once dry I painted the letters white with a cheap art paint brush. I got some white on the red that I had to come back and touch up. It was tedious, but it worked and turned out great. Got the paint at Autozone. I think doing it this way is cheaper than buying the kit online by about half.

Wow, I didn't think anyone was going to notice, I like to break it up a little. Shows the commitment you have in the project, and my buddy suggested getting a Black steel marker ( I did ) and they are a black high temp paint used in welding sometimes. I got it from Grainger to day, I'll give it a try next week end. I guess I'm getting older, but I thought I do more mods, but i bought this with 10.093 and I've got only 10.584 now, so I think this car is just gonna be a 'Driver', Just a real clean drive is my goal. Personally, I think Dave Hill and the gang did the best here in the C5
