Modding cars like that isn’t really my thing but surely half the attraction is being the one to pick out the mods that achieve what you want to improve, enjoying the “before and after” thing… the whole “built, not bought” approach?
For $95 grand you'd think he'd throw in windshield wipers.
Again, this is clearly a race car. Wipers cause drag, and are not needed for drag racing. That car actually wouldn't even be street legal here in VA. I certainly wouldn't buy this thing, but you can't evaluate it like you would a street car. This is a purpose built race car.

Yea, that was a joke. Was also gonna say I need proof he's changed out the original oil pressure sensor before I buy it, but thought the windshield wiper bit was funnier.
It's kind of a pastime for me, just looking at corvettes for sale and the market is just crazy stupid right now, 11 year old Grand sports, 31.000 miles up for sale at $40.000, now i know it isn't a C5 but a C6, but even C5 prices are crazy out there, I wonder if the market is in for a correction soon. I just don't understand purchasing a brand new 2023 1 LT non Z51 comes in at $67.000 ( and I don't want or need a 3 LT and it's high technology options, who knows if the different parts will be discontinued in a few years? I know their nice, but I don't think parts for one will be even available by 2030 ? ) but the virtually same car now around here going for $110.000 ? I unfortunately was at a New Jersey Chevrolet dealership last month, and the only cars in the showroom were 3 2023 Corvettes 2 of them had SOLD stickers on them, which I thought at the time as odd, If their sold why are they on the showroom floor were people are going to be touching or trying to open the doors and sit in them, wouldn't you want to keep them out of reach of the general public while they await delivery ? maybe not, I just thought it was kind of odd. but prices for almost any Corvettes are really out there right now, maybe in the fall they'll come down ?
How do you make a C5 worth $100k. You spend $200k on it. Just kidding.
To get max value and top price out of a modified car. You document it all well and record all the costs and materials used.
Also make it appealing to look at. Too many do a car that looks good to them and they lose their shirt.
My buddy had a Camaro that was street legal that ran 9 sec. It had a Hutter built engine and was fully documented. He paid a good price but the documents help sell the car later and he even made a few bucks.
As for radical Vettes I saw one tonight I think was a C6. It was as low as I have 3ver seen and flared out a boy half again wider than the original car.
It was coming toward me fast and only when I saw the tail did I realize what it was. I hope to see it sitting still at some time and get some photos. It kind of was like a real life hot wheel.
FWIW......About 3 or 4 years ago I tried to, ahem, "sell" my LS7 equipped 2000 C5 vert. I asked $20,000 for it. I didn't get 1 phone call. So, there's that.....
If you want some laughs track the C5 Modified Buy Sell Trade page on fb. Some cars are worth every penny they ask for them and are impressively and tastefully upgraded. Others are jackhats trying to bilk the next guy. One guy tried to flip a car within two days for twice what he paid (and we had receipts from the first seller.) Many think a bolt-on blower kit with exhaust is worth $30k. And some cars may be worth high 20s, but I have yet to have a SINGLE sell come back and share what they sold their car for after advertising it for $30,000 to $38,000 and I have been messaging them privately. Not one.
5 to 10k - Absolute beater
11k to 14k - Some mods like h/c, accidents, bad paint, high miles - a few decent scores - great bang/buck ratio
15k to 18k - Clean for the miles base models with good mods like h/c/blower, some great hidden deals pop up in here, also some Z06z with miles
+19k - Z06s and bigger builds - sky is the limit after 19k and cars vary wildly in mods and perceived value. Some good built transmissions, rears, forged engines.
To land in the 23 to 26+ range it would need full drivetrain plus power mods and this is where the seller's investments in the build begin to rapidly lose any delta to the sale price of the car whatsoever because once you tip near to the $30k point that is where the beater C6Z cars start and right off the bat you have stronger entire drivetrain and brakes to build on. The C6Z puts a giant glass ceiling on pricing for any C5.
The other key on cars like this specific Auctions are the best place to sell. Guys who can’t turn wrenches and have money troll these auctions and cars go for much more vs private sale.
a few of my customers do cars for Barrett and hot august nights to sell and make money on each year. Street rods are king but other mods can do really well if they present good on stage.
The money guys nite and take the hit later when they sell.

I spent some time flipping hot rods on the side and your right...street rods bring in bank...or you loose your *** [no in between ]
I'm not a corvette purist...I actually stumbled into the scene recently. From what I've learned...mod's are actually somewhat shunned by the general corvette crowd which was an oddity to me as anyone with a street rod...the first thing they wanna do is cam, intake, headers, and gears. With hot rod guys, it was always about making the car yours and unique whether that be how your motor is setup, or paint, or stance. When I go to car shows and see 10 corvettes lined up with hoods up and everyone of them is basically stock I always kind of ask myself...why? Typically, if your hood is up...its to show that you have something the other guy dosnt lol
Value is always in the eye of the beholder. When it comes to cool cars that make great noises...there will always be someone with the dream of owning one. Just my 2 cents.
