True. Many mid lifers and non vette guys don't have a clue about a 10mm and shy from mods. Also, too, there is this frightening sub culture of weirdness where owners COMPETE and get POINTS to see whose car is more stock, more original, driven less, has less rocks in the tire tread, and no dust on their undercarriage.

THOSE PEOPLE SCARE ME.

But there is one other way to sell modified Corvettes. RPO codes. I could have a forged dry sump 464 built by an ace who specializes in them and has an exotic $5k valvetrain... but dudes will run away from that. BUT if I sell that same car and it is a 200k mile LS7 from a wrecked track car..... They will all jump on it because I said "LS7." I've seen it repeatedly where guys could have MUCH better cars and don't know better, but also are ok wayyy overspending for an rpo code.

Case in point. I am getting ready to let my daily driver coupe go once the Z06 is finished. Headers, ram air, straub bushings, lpe fuel pump, speakers, sound deadening, pac1218 valve springs, hub, new ac, RST clutch and lightweight fly, tick master and bleeder, Borla S.... the car has 121k is blk/blk m6 and has been my daily driver living outdoors..... Yadda yadda nothing, passed by for others in the search process right?

But... It has always had Z06 springs and sway bars with Bilsteins.... It needs new tires so I scored a used set on chrome Z06 wheels... In Z06 sizes.... I had a custom gauge overlay set I wanted to keep and also had a spare Z06 gauge cluster so I swapped them.... My 4th gear in my transmission had the synchro die.... So how do I sell the car? Well, I bought a used M12 trans with 63k out of an upgraded Z06. And! By chance I had bought a cut set ($150) of Z06 titanium pipes to try on my own Z06. .. Well I fixed them and will swap those in place and sell my Borlas.

So I will market the car as a Z06 clone of sorts. And it may still sell to a wrencher. But that Z06 push will drag a lot more attention along the way.

Sounds like a beast of a car, but not worth $95K to me. Perhaps someone will pay that amount.

And I will post to the Forum first when I do. The only override option goes to the fellow I bought it from originally who had bought it while in school with his dad. They'd wrench on it and have good memories from that time. But his dad had passed of pancreatic cancer before I took ownership. And I swear I spun it out in the snow on the highway once and I knew I'd wreck the car but I'd be ok, but my first thought in my head as I was spinning off the hill was to apologize to his dad for wrecking the car. And woosh.... The car stopped two lanes over in the final piece of pavement before those cable barriers. All that plus I'm sentimental about cars, their histories and family, so even if he can't take the car in he'll still get first offer.

Definitely a cool race car but someone’s about to learn a hard lesson is about spending money on race cars.
You’re lucky if you can get $.50 on the dollar of what you spent. Sure, there’s exceptions if the car is well known. I’m sure Ryan Martin could get good money on the fireball.

Per your own logic would have better luck if you had put on ls6 and left all that other crap alone

OK, let’s not start down that pesky “logic” path. 🙄

The key here is clone. Not actual.

The other key point is that I happened to have all the other stuff already except for the trans. When the 4th gear synchro went (4th works fine, you just can't slam shift it) and that killed the hope of a sale without a new trans, well.... I considered several options and pursued them. Injust did a 6060/C6Z trans and diff combo swap into my Z06 so I hunted a base model 6060/diff. I also sought rebuilds from rpm, tdp, rkt, murica, tick and rockland standard.... But prices were high and I'm looking to sell and not slit my throat on the car. I found both a low miles m6 and then a low miles M12. The Z trans owner happened to be driving past me from LI to Maine to go snowmobiling the next morning and could deliver to my garage door. So that ended up a no brainer. With that trans in hand I swapped in the cluster to save my custom one, and when I swap the trans in I can make some profit on the Borlas (500)... Then sell my limping T56 to a rebuilder (700)...and only be losing 200 for the M12 purchase while keeping some value in the coupe at time of sale.

Either way it won't sell to some polishing fiend or anyone who thinks of vehicles as investments. It's going to sell to another wrencher who understands the awesome baseline it gives them for a project. Even just a cam swap and it will light right up. But that's for the next owner to decide.
