I am hoping that you can assist me with a targa top question. Can some confirm if there should be a rubber bumper or the like under the center/rear latch of the targa top? I confirmed that the spring is still present on the latch but the main lever of the center latch seems to travel too far up into the roof of the car. When the targa top is removed, there is a small 1/4 or so hole in the top underside of the plastic trim panel when looking up from the inside. To me it looks like maybe a rubber bumper is missing.
Can someone confirm and maybe take a picture? If ther is supposed to be a rubber bumper, do you know the part number or where I can get one?
Sorry, no part number. But it looks like this when removed (or when it falls out and you find it sitting between the passenger seat and ebrake). Check under your seats. You could get lucky..
The above idea to use the gas door plug and a felt pad isn't too bad. For a few dollars and 10 minutes it's worth a shot.
Otherwise if you really want to get things back to original correct working order with the latch and the McGruber route isn't appealing to you....ebay sellers have the entire halo cover (used) with the stopper for under $100 with shipping. Depends on how you feel about it and whether or not $50 to $80 is worth it to you vs $10 and being creative.
Apparently the plug/stopper was sold separately at one point. It's item #38 on the C5 interior parts diagram. But no part # associated. The halo part number is 10401942
Yeah I wasn't going to spend money on a part no one is going to see or care, $80+ to get a Halo cover for piece of rubber, or $6 for a 5 pack of bumpers and a 10 piece round piece of felt. No one knows the difference, for an arbitrary bumper.

Agreed! All depends on level of OCD, preference, budget, logic and smarts. I'd go the route you did and keep my OCD at bay until I happened across one online or at Carlisle.
Look up vettevillains on Facebook. I got one of those bumpers from them and a few other odds and ends. They dismantle end of life C5s and part out. You'll do better pricewise if you need other parts -- more worth their time. but they are a great place to buy from.
