I think the confusion comes from your first sentence in your post:
Techron needs to be added to a full tank of gas.
Then you state add when the tank is at a lower fuel setting. I know what you meant but others may read it differently.
I add a bottle of Techron once or twice a year, depending on how many miles I put on the car. Buy the stuff when they have a BOGO sale and it comes out really inexpensive. For storage, if you do that, I have always added some Sta-BIL - the length of storage may eliminate the need for this if it is a short term thing.
I just bought an 01. OnThe way home the guage was near 1/4 tank. Then a Ding, and the guage went to zero. I added 2 bottles of tech Ron and let the car sit for a week or 2.. Have not had it happen again so for.
