I bought this C5 last year, so I'm unsure if the previous owners have ever done this. I usually fill up w/ 93 octane in the C5. I'd like to use Techron at least every summer season. When is the proper time to add techron to the C5? I'm currently at half a tank. Also, is there a better brand, or just go with that one. For reference the C5 is 92,5k miles as well.I do not have the problem with the fuel gauge.
Thanks in advance!

Reason: Added fuel gauge comment
You should be at 1/4 tank or less so that adding the Techron goes to both tanks.
If you store the car, like for winter, it should have Techron.
So I can get it down to 1/4 before the light comes on. When putting the techron ,does the car need to be on? Also, after pouring it in, are you able to get more gas or just wait like 50-60 miles until to do so?
Techron needs to be added to a full tank of gas. The reason why you add it when the tank is down to 1/4 or so is so that when you add the gas to fill the tank up, it mixes completely with the new gas you added in both tanks. NO the car does not need to be "on". Drive up to a pump, open the techron and pour it in, then add gas. Drive the car and have fun-
Every 3000 miles is the recommended interval to use Techron.

This is how it should be done. It is possible to use too much Techon. A good rule of thumb is to use it whenever you change your oil.

For storage, I prefer Seafoam or Stabil. They stabilize your fuel. Techron is more of a fuel system cleaner rather than a fuel stabilizer. Although, Seafoam does both.
Hopefully you have a better result in keeping the fuel gauge from funking out. I did not. Based on CF comments, I used it from from the time I bought the C5 in 2014 and after 6 years, the fuel gauge went funky at fill up. I consider this the snake oil of the additives.
I have been using it for 2 years now. Still not working right, sometimes the gas guage seems to work than it drops to empty, I just set the trip reading and fill up at about 300 miles
This thread is just like a “which oil” thread. Personally, I tried the Techron religiously to cure the sending units with no success whatsoever. The fix for me was to change both senders and upon inspection of both old units I did not find sulfur deposits or grooving of contacts present. By the time you buy Techron many times you might as well buy new sending units. Of course I changed them myself so installation costs are nil for me. Just time and I’m retired.
Just before seasonal storage I always add Techron when I fill my car with ethanol free marine gas. I usually do it again mid season but only drove 2000 miles/year. The stuff is magic and solves the fuel gauge problem.

Why add the Techron to a full tank??? Run it down to 1/4-3/8 full, add the Techron at the gas station, and fill 'er up.
EDIT!!! Techron worked most of the time for me. However, when I realized I could buy new sending units for under $100, I realized I have spent more $$$ on Techron than the new senders cost!!! Food for thought....

I use Techron at least once a month - gas tank near empty, toss in a full bottle of Techron, then fill up with TopTier fuel (Exxon, Sunoco, Mobil, Shell)
I drive mine 3-5k miles a yr. At least 1500 of that is on an annual drive in the mountains and here is what I do.
On that road trip I take a bottle w/me and when I'm low on fuel and plan to drive through the tank in the next day or so.
I'm storing mine for a few months soon, Techron or stabilizer?
I've worked at several automotive and marine OEM's and here is what we use as criteria. We assume that fuel has 3 months worth of stability as it comes from any roadside gas station. More than 90 days and it will loose octane rating.
So.. IMO if its going to have 90+ day old gas in it I add sta-bil and use 93octane in all gas powered things I have.
Purchased my 1999 new and started to have fuel gauge issues at about 2k miles. Info on the Forum, started using Shell 93 Octane that has Techron additive and haven't had any problems since, 180,000 miles.
