Looking to tint the windshield on my C5. Mostly to reduce headlight glare when driving at night. Tint shop suggested 35%.. seems a little dark for a windshield though. The door windows and rear window are already tinted with 25%. I was thinking 50% for the windshield, but he was saying that may not really reduce much glare. Suggestions??
I agree the comments regarding the law aren't helpful, since that's not that you asked.
Anyway, I am looking at doing this on my C5, probably 50% or lighter more so for the heat savings and secondly for aesthetics. I previously tinted the windshield on my Ford Fusion (daily driver) and never had any issues with the Law or visibility.

I'm in Texas ( Houston) and the only thing they did when inspecting my car was look to see if the windshield was tinted and an emissions test.
LLumar Air80 stops a significant amount of glare and heat and you pretty much cannot tell it is there.
Going 50% is pretty obvious and depending on the local PD, you might very well get a ticket. The C7 had 50% on it and that was a mistake I learned from.
Be honest with yourself. Do you want it to reduce the sun and it's effects? Or do you think it looks cool?
You're going to get 500 replies from people who have never done it complaining that's it's against the law, even though that's not what you asked.
So giving a member a little heads up as to what to be careful of is now a bad thing? I'd be curious to see your reply to a "I got a windshield tint ticket" thread.
Welcome to the forum! Personally, I wouldn't consider anything other than a UV tint for the windshield. If you need more than that, I think that sunglasses would be the better option.

No victim, no crime.
Anyone who is doing this already knows it's illegal. It's like telling someone who wants to add horsepower to their car what the speed limit is. It's irrelevant and nobody cares.
I have 35% on the sides and hatch, 50% on the windshield.
50% on the glass is good. Its like driving with sunglasses on all the time. Night time was sketchy with the factory lights, but with the knight drive set up its not bad.
I wish i would have gone darker on the sides/hatch however.

Look at the OP's post count........maybe he doesn't know..........just sayin
This is from a test using 5% regular tint and clear ceramic tint. The test measured amount of heat that transfers into the car through the tint. Ceramic keeps the vehicle cooler but clear isn't as cool looking but for all the people lecturing about the law. Clear is legal.
