Recently purchased an 01 C5Z which came with some sort of CAI installed. Seems like the car might be an older build based on some of the parts. I’ve tried to find out which CAI I have based on pictures, but no luck so far. Maybe some of the older members might recognize it? Looks like a cross between a Honker and Vortex Ram to me. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Do you mean an older version? The current one looks like the panel filter area stands more proud and ends in a flatter oval shape instead of round. Besides some other design differences.

Around 2000 there was a company in South Florida that made one like that, it was called the Ice Box or something similar. It was used by some of the early ORR cars that ran in Nevada

In the second picture that's posted, there appears to be some sort of lettering printed on the airbox. Does it offer any information?

Look similar in design to my Callaway Honker CAI but has a different throttle body air duct and finish. Maybe an earlier design/version?

A search for "Ice Box" and intakes turned up intakes only for Acura and Honda. There are a number of no brands out there loosely called "Vortex" intakes which use the same "cut a hole in the radiator cover" approach. There was an older K&N CAI which did the same thing.

Did not find a match for your pic though.

So, I stumbled upon this while searching I don’t know what.

I called MTI and spoke to someone who wasn’t sure and they requested that I send a picture. When they got back to me via text, they said they spoke to “their guy” (I’m assuming employee/owner) who advised that it looks like a standard Vararam cold air.

Now I don’t know if they were busy and didn’t look or aren’t really knowledgeable on past products, but it doesn’t look like a Vararam and pretty much exactly like an MTI lid for F Bodies, at least to me.

Anybody remember these? Did they or FTP or someone make a batch for C5s?

It also includes the power duct (not pictured yet). This comes with a shroud that is already cut and rivets installed and a new filter. Best deal out there. $285 shipped. I have an oil cooler installed and this will not fit my car. Let me know if interested.
