Most of us have heard of the Rec 89 or Rec 90 fuel for seasonal vehicles. No alcohol in it, but it isn't cheap. Last week, the wife and I were in Michigan's U.P. (Upper Peninsula) and needed gas. Found a station with regular@$3.27/gallon. I looked at the pump's fuel options and was really surprised to see Rec 91! Never heard of it! Even more surprising was it went for $4.07/gallon!!! Down here in the "Lower," I've never seen Rec 91 octane fuel. The Rec 89 and Rec 90 fuel is going for $4.50+/gallon. If you're from Michigan, you'll quickly realize how screwed up these prices are. The U.P. ALWAYS had considerably higher prices than the lower, NOT CHEAPER prices. Never!!! Until now. I looked 2 days ago at that same station I'm talking about, and it has only jumped to $3.38/gallon, still much cheaper than anything in the Lower. BTW, our daily driver, a Buick Encore, ran just dandy on that $3.27/gallon regular. I wish they had Rec 91 down here where I live. At $4.07/gallon, I'll bet it works just fine. Anyone tried this in their C5?....
Mike, I use Rec 90 in my boat and a lot of stations down here have this fuel since there are many boats in my county….actually more registered here than anywhere in the entire country…a station down here has 92 octane non ethanol which I use in the Corvette…non ethanol is the fuel to use if the car is not driven much…and yes it’s pretty expensive!!
I've seen it here recently. I use E85 in my Impala exclusively but there aren't many stations that carry it. I may try the ethenol free in the vette since it doesn't get used much.
