A faulty switch will bring up the "service traction control" message on the DIC and when that happens you no longer have brake lights. Additionally, it's possible the "service traction control" message may go away on the next startup or drive but that is only because the switch is working intermittently and once it stops working again the DIC message repeats.

Easy install but must be done correctly or cruise control will not work: 1. Simply remove the lower black panel under the steering wheel. 2. Remove and replace the 2 switches. 3. Push both switches towards the FRONT of the vehicle - you will hear a rapid click from both and the brake pedal will move. 4. Then, USING ONLY 2 FINGERS, pull up on the brake pedal lightly until you hear them click into the correct position.
