Default Should I get headers

I have a lightly modded 01, vortex, corsas, kirban......I want to add headers, x pipe and free flow cats. Would you do it and if so what can I expect in performance gain and sound? What headers would you suggest? :D  ;)

Do the headers! With my mods in sig even with detonation which cost me ? hp
it brings the 01 into and beyond the stock 02 range. A lot of posts on which system. Do the search and figure out which is best for you.

Do the headers. They added a nice gain on my '02.

I wouldn't do it until the warranty period was over. II don't plan to do anything like that myself. I find the power and performance of the stock cr to be adequate for my needs. When I really want to drive fast, I take my crotch rocket.

Go for it. One of the advantages of the 02 over the 01 is the Cats. I think you could benefit from freer flowing cats. Also, I do not know of any better "bolt on" than a set of headers. I am gonna guess that you will get at least 20 rwhp with your little mod package there. I have been pondering the same thing. Not cheap horsepower. It seems TPIS, Belanger, and FLP are probably the most popular headers for this car.

I have the FLP and picked up approximately 20 rwhp and 20 rwtq.

Huh? What's the warranty period have to do with headers? (Nothing, based on what I've [not] experienced.) And not knowing if the original poster has a motorcycle or not, I'd say go for the headers.

I've got TPIS long-tubes on my '01 Z, and the car got downright nasty! The sound at WOT is beautiful (stock Ti exhaust on mine still), and the power increase, especially in 3rd, is very noticeable. I've never had my car dyno'd, but the SOTP meater confirms headers as a great, must-do mod.

were running LG motorsports long tubes, into the Borla XR-1 high flow muffler, then out the back. No cats. Car smells (obviously), but sounds like death. Has a great sound also at idle with the cam lope...not to mention a very cool fire works show when you lift........LG's the bomb.

Have you every read your warranty as it relates to modifications? It has a lot to do with headers. Any modification you make to your car voids your warranty to the extent that your modification effected a warranty claim.

Apparently you think the headers improve engine performance. I would bet that GM would argue than any engine failure was related to your aftermarker alleged "go fast headers". Do you have the financial and emotional where-with-all to prove them wrong?

Just do it....There are several types out there, do some research, and also look careful at any manufacturer with 'huge' hp gains...You should gain 17-22 hp but more important anothe 20 lbs of tq  Oh and you chop off about 27 lbs, which is substantial..

I say go for it!! :yesnod: If you cut holes in your airlid, you will gain rwhp (instead of spending 200-500 on an intake), headers are the best bang for the buck! I bought mine used from a fellow vette club member, had them installed by my dealer, and it just kicks azz! Shoulda been my first mod!! Will dyno later. Wanta do the track first!! C'mon March!! :hurray:

Effect on the warrenty is mostly up to the discretion of your local GM service manager. I spoke with the service manager at a dealer near me and he told gave me a list of things that would and would not void the warrenty. According to him, any mods I did to intake/exhaust wouldn't void the warrenty. However mods to the block or drivetrain would definately void the warranty. Once again I stress he told me that its up to the dealer.
