Just got home from a tuning session with Tampa Tuning and am a very happy dude! We did several runs WFO and normal driving, didn't take long to get the tune dialed in. Much snappier throttle response, much better shift (my car is an auto), quicker downshifts and just generally more fun to drive. The unexpected surprise was I averaged 28.4 mpg on the way there in cool morning air (60's) for the 90 mile trip one way trip and 34.6 mpg on the way home running the same route with more than a few WFO runs on the freeway. I can HIGHLY recommend his work, Phil knows his **** very well and is a pretty cool dude too. If you in the area of Tampa and are on the fence I can say get ahold of him, you will NOT be disappointed!
Thank you guys for the kudo's.
My vendorship expires in a couple of days. I usually become a vendor twice a year.
Yes I also do remote tuning and bench tuning also if you mail me your ECM. The best way to get in touch with me is Email. The phone rings all day from telemarketers and spam calls.
If you Email me, I can respond any time of day and night.
I have heard nothing but good things about Phil. However, if you have a swapped engine, he will not tune it. I'm talking about an LS7 in an LS3 car, LS7 or LS3 in a C5, etc. I wish he did!!
Phil has my ECM right now. I can hardly wait to get it back! He's definitely a great guy and he's kept me informed every step of the way.
Bla Bla Bla lol. I burned your tune last night to the ECM and I dropped it off today at USPS. You'll have it back Monday. Not bad for a one man show.
I can bench tune LS1,3,6,7, and L99. My bench harness doesn't work on the 1997-1998 LS1s or the E40 LS2s.

The Florida Aquarium has the best A/C. Fish must like it cold.

Yes, rarely do I work on swaps, I know we talked, but you may catch me on a weak day :-). They always seem to have little bugs that are difficult to diagnose and fix if the computer wasnt changed with the engine. When I work on swap, I do them when the engine, transmission and computer come out of the same donor vehicle and in my head and my HPT scanner, It looks like just another Corvette or Camaro.

Not bad at all, especially considering the ECM didn't show up to you until yesterday! You da' Man!!
I got my PCM back today and put back in. Took it for a drive and I have to say, Phil did a great job! He told me I would have approximately 15 WHP increase but my butt meter says it's more than that. Not bad for a stock engine. But the main thing I was looking for was to tighten up the shifts in my A4. Now when I get on it, the shifts are much firmer but around town and normal driving, the shifts are just a little bit firmer than stock. And that's ideal for a non-racing street car. He listened to what I was after and gave it to me. If anyone is on the fence about using him, go for it. You won't be disappointed!
That is my experience as well. Good seat of the pants improvement. Like you I was really wanting the shifts to more crisp and a shorter delay from matting the pedal to the actual downshift, both were accomplished. Normal driving there really is no perceivable difference, however when putting the whip to it the shifts are much cleaner, a WFO 1-2 shift barks the tires hard. It has been a few weeks since my tune, even happier now than initially.
The increased performance of good tune on any car, computerized or not, can't be overemphasized. A good tune on a stock 1970s car, yes, will help some. On these cars, all I can say is it took my car from a boltons 13.20s car to a consistent 12.80s car with no other changes. Phil seems to be an honest guy, so he is probably not going to make promises that wont happen, unlike many companies. My guess is your butt meter is probably right. If your car was full bolt on when you got the tune, you probably are seeing more than a 15whp increase...
Yep. I fondly remember the days of distributor dynos, brass jets, needles and accelerator pump tweaking. Indexing plugs, port matching intakes, etc. I still enjoy doing all that stuff on my 74' Sportster, though it does not have a distributor., but does run dual plugs per cylinder. Currently I am experimenting with shrinking the HUGE intake ports to get the velocity up in the port with pretty good results. Anything will help with the crazy 45 deg angle of the intake valves, the piston has a huge dome to develop the 10.5 CR it runs. Even that is adjustable with different thickness copper head gaskets.
Thats what the bike cops rode in the ‘60’s in our city. Every cop had his little dab of custom lettering. It was pretty cool, until they gave us a ticket. 😳
