Is Push Button Start a good idea?
The main problem I have with my c5 as is is that I need to fish for my key to get going. I'm sure some of y'all prefer using the key to start, I just don't like it, especially when I'm walking to my car with groceries or something else in my hands.
As a result, I've been looking into keyless entry/push button start kits on the internet and came across this vetonvettes757 video,
I want to pull the trigger on it but I'm a bit worried about the actual security that these have. I'm going to be moving to the Grapevine area in the DFW metroplex, where recently someone's c7 just got stolen.
So, does anyone know anything about EasyGuard and their security.
Or, does anyone know anything about any keyless entry + push button start alternatives? Extra points if I can find an install guide on youtube.
I appreciate any and all input

I get that it can be "annoying" sometimes but if that is your "main problem" I think you are doing alright

All that said if it's something YOU want to do and will make you happy, go for it. I don't think it will de-value the car or make it any less desirable to a potential buyer if you were to ever sell it like some of the things people do to their C5.
As far as security I don't know much about it but people buy those RFID pouches to put their fobs in so their fob isn't constantly broadcasting to the car. Because even while you sleep your fob is broadcasting and that's how thieves steal cars.
If your C5 is a manual then you already have eliminated probably 80% of thieves from being able to steal your car successfully too. If not, you can get covers that block the button on the auto-stick from being depressed... but those contraptions usually have a key to unlock it so kind of defeats the purpose of you not wanting to use a key to get your car going.
Good luck! If you do it and it works good I think many people would like to hear about it here.

I have both and I can live with either if it is a factory set up. But to hack up a good system to convert it just not worth it.
To me the push button is more a gimmick that is no longer anything special.
Hell I have to push buttons to start and go in gear in my wife’s GMC then push a button to close the garage door. The buttons are on the dash, console and roof. Kind of a pain.

you want to protect your car from theft? install a simple switch to disable the ignition under the dash. you can install them so many covert places that only you know about. No switch in correct position, no start and it won't interfere with any of the systems and is simple to take out.
