I've searched the forum a bit and have yet to find a definitive answer. I am currently using the factory rear quarters and have a set of CCW classics 18x11.5 in the rear. The current tire that came on the wheels is a 305/35/18 that is stretched on the wheel (not a fan of the stretch). I am looking to run either a 325 or 335, but I was curious if this would cause it to poke or rub. I have some L5s coming, but no timeline yet for delivery.
My guess is yes for the 335s, maybe on the 325s. Here's why-I ran 315-30-18s for years on the rear with no rubbing. BUT, wheels were 18×10.5. As we all know, no car is assembled perfectly. On my car, I could flatten one hand against the fender well, and the other side of my fingers just touched the sidewall on one side. I couldn't get the other hand in between the sidewall and fender well on the opposite side. My hands are not large. My guess is even 325s on an 11.5 rim will rub at some point in the suspension travel. My clearances were while the car was parked on cement. You may need 1/4" spacers, IDK. Even without wheel spacers, those tires will stick slightly outside the quarter panel, for sure. Obviously, a spacer will make them stick out even more.....
The only tire available in that size anymore is a drag radial. If you're ok with that, then carry on.
If you're going to swap flared fenders on, wait for those to come in first as you're going to want/need to re-lip the rear wheels anyway. A wheel that fits a stock fender looks ridiculous with a 2" flare over it haha. Re-lip the wheels first, then buy tires. You can fit a 345 under flared fenders, no problem there with a 325 or 335.
