Sorry, but I have to laugh at the drag vs. downforce argument and that C5 pop-up headlights act as air brakes. Unless you're planning to drive your 20+ year-old C5 at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, does it really matter when street driving at night? How often do you really get up to a speed where it would make a difference? "Damn, I would have smoked that late model Mustang in the quarter mile to the next Starbucks if it wouldn't have been for these damn pop-up headlights!"
I get it if you prefer non pop-ups for looks, then why not just move into a C6 and get the bump in HP and other newer stuff that comes with it since the two platforms are pretty similar and can share many parts. I like the retro look of the pop ups especially if you upgrade them with projector kits from either ACA or the newer sleepy eye KnightDrive TV versions as the OEM halogens have the light output of weak flashlights. Plus, during the day, there is nothing more stealth than no visible lights, especially on the darker colored C5s.
Downforce is drag. The downward force is created by the resistance to air flow over the spoiler. In another words drag. There is a reason the top speed of a C8 is lower with the full spoiler package.
