After 18 months I just picked up a replacement for my 2002 vert which was flooded in hurricane Ian. With 62,300 miles my insurance paid me $26,000. I replaced it with another 2002 vert with only 51,700 miles. Thought I got a good deal at $15k since the car was a spotless garage queen. The seller attempted to trade it in a a local Lexus dealer. When I picked it up he gave me a nine page clean Carfax from the dealership which had a trade in value of $7960. Makes me wonder whether I got a good deal or not. Did the bottom fall out of the C5 market recently? Made me wonder how good a deal I really got. Still cheaper than the C8 I considered.
That same car in Ohio would be $22k. Just depends where you are and what you have in the car. The dealer had to have really screwed the trader but that benefited you. As long as there are no pending issues.
The trade in prices for C5 are nuts. I have had to fight for about $5k more on the last C5 I had. I got them to accept the deal but then I found out the C7 I wanted had a lot of issues on the 2nd (much longer) test drive and I dipped out of that deal. Still looking for my next Vette but definitely don't let them lowball like that.
As others have mentioned the market where you live means something too.

No the bottom didn’t fall out. The $7,960.00 trade in value from the Lexus dealer is a joke. Tried to steal the car from seller. Spring is fast approaching. In Wisconsin that is a $22,000.00 car all day long in the spring and early summer season being that it is a convertible.
You don't have to wonder. You got 26k for your car with more miles. Got a lower mile replacement for 11k less, that's a great deal. Dealer trade in values are very low as compared to retail values and many time don't reflect what the car is really worth.
For real a dealer is going to offer half what a car is worth so they can double their money.
Just bought a 2000 last year out of Wisconsin and you got a great deal on that car. Got to love C5s you can buy them with Toyota Corolla money and blow the doors off most other cars on the road in stock form.
